Biggest change from last year?

Pivoting on the similar post in the gear topic, what's the biggest overall change for you from last year? Is it gear? Technique? A newfound appreciation for noisescapes utilizing only sounds from the local Burger King? Just this new RPM site?

For me, it's kind of a downer (yeah, good, why did I think to start this string -- sorry, everyone): My long time winterstar collaborator went to prison. Completely out of the blue and for something so vile I don't want to get into it here. BUT, I bring it up because it's a. obviously a huge change/hurdle and b. because it's the basis of this year's effort.

The entire winterstar back catalog is hereby disavowed, so I'm using the bits that I wrote and want to reclaim from being sullied. I'm going to recontextualize everything and try to see it with new eyes. In that sense, I'm kinda grateful for the fresh start with the site.

What about you? I hope yours is less depressing!

The biggest new thing for me this year (as alluded to in another post) is...a daughter who will be 6 weeks old tomorrow. My wife will be on parental leave throughout February at least, but I'll be working. I expect many of my February days to be working all day and then coming home to give her a break from baby duty all night, so I guess we'll see how much time I get to mess around with music during the month. I might just offer to throw guitar/bass tracks at people who need some extra sounds.

I"ll be living with someone else for the first time.
They are already joking around about the metronome sounds.

I was packing to move house during last year's RPM, so now back in the UK! New place, slightly new setup, should be interesting at least.

my biggest change this year will be to write an album of music that doesn't suck.

I have become obsessed with playing guitar, and with guitars in general. I still suck, but expect even more completely gratuitous guitar solos than usual.
