I've had a mild form of tinnitus for years, but it's been low-level and manageable. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition called Hashimoto's Disease and started taking Synthroid. It's been great. My quality of life improved dramatically almost instantly and all was fine in Letter Seventeenland until a few months ago when the tinnitus grew louder and louder. Apparently, tinnitus can be a side effect of thyroid meds.  Oh joy! It's now almost at the same level as a conversation and in loud environments I will occasionally hit overload and have to leave rather quickly as I can't hear. Other times, it's completely fine. Working from home in a quiet environment helps a lot.  I've had my hearing checked, and I can hear fine.  There's just a ringing.

So, as I tend to do, I wrote a song about tinnitus. Actually, a number of songs on the record are about tinnitus, but this one actually shares the experience with you. Late in the song, two tones come up at different frequencies and slightly different volumes. That's the sound I hear.

As a side note, I can't mess with things like this very often as matching the tones in my ears has made the ringing much louder. It will fade in an hour or so, but it was a new discovery. Oh joy.

Oh, and the blog post title is likely to be the album title this year, too. :)
