As is my RPM tradition, this was recorded in my closet. The main guitar riff for "Gloria" was something I'd noodled with for years, and only in the last week did I actually write a song for it. I love rediscovering old ideas. I think it's important to honor all the art we create over the years, and to respect our younger selves enough to breathe life into the works we may not have had the tools for at the time.
Actually talking about the piece with people as I was making it. Music has always been an intensely private thing for me and I'm trying to be more vulnerable with my art and my life in general. Plus it helps me get out of the hellscape of perfectionism. It's a cool thing, taking your art more seriously, but taking yourself less seriously.
I learned, again, the importance of what RPM is all about: just do the thing.
