I wanted to incorporate what I've heard and love from hyperpop into Midwest emo. I also wanted to solidify myself in emo by studying it's origins and structure and think I really achieved that.
At one point my eyelid started twitching. I thought it was out of stress but I still didn't care. I was totally willing to sacrifice something superficial for the sake of making music. This is a sincere wanting that can help you find other places in your life where you may not actually want to do what you're doing. I found my internal voice of passion. It was just clogged sinuses btw - eye is/was totally fine.
I learned that songs only have about 4 or 5 parts at most and that those parts just repeat. Even in meritocracies like math rock and midwest emo this stays true. This year I worked on solidifying themes and then intentionally varying them instead of writing new parts every section.
