My main constraint was that I would only work with what I had in my home studio (no live drum tracking). I also wanted to stick to one DAW (Ableton), because last year, switching among DAWs for different parts of the process was a huge pain. I set out to make a stripped down set of art songs using piano and voice. It didn't work. I followed the sounds and ended up in my usual dark experimental rock-electronica territory. My objective was to jumpstart my creative process, and while I only (haha) completed about 45 minutes of music out of my goal of 100m, the seeds of dozens more songs and musical ideas have been planted.
Honestly it was the fact that I roped a friend into signing up: I wasn't sure if he would. My favorite moment was when I listened to his first completed tune. Mission accomplished, Dead Sea Battery
No matter how much or how little time and energy you invest into this, you WILL get something out of it. Push yourself to the limit and make your own renaissance. Also make sure your studio chair is ergonomic. Take breaks.
