Reticent M E was born out of an evening jam where all the celestial bodies seemed to align. It is a perfect storm of uncooperative sequences, deconstructed bass, bastardized guitar/synth hybrids and healthy noise. As far as the album’s concept is concerned, any of the following can be ascribed: alien abduction, parallel planes of existence, atmosphere re-entry, SETI and the like. Oh, and there’s a bunch of vocoded drums on the record which really make the beats speak.
All of it! The jams were tighter and the editing quicker as we have gained so much knowledge in playing together. A big catalyst to that was the making of our last record, Red Mono Extension, which was our first RPM project completed last year. Thanks RPM! We’ll try to REM until next year!
Less laborious editing, more on-the-fly decisions = better music. RPM gives you a deadline and there is little time to second-guess yourself. This means you can enjoy making music more and spend less time fiddling with the EQ ad nauseam. That, and listen to more Derek Bailey.
