ustaknow (alias) | Anniversary | Experimental, Indie | The track came from a single phrase, "Lord you gave me this man, you then broke his way", from my wife on our 21st anniversary - different context of the song that then developed. Lately all of my tracks have been minimalist, even from iPhone mp4 and 1st pass 1 take record while writing as well as dubs when mix in audacity 2.3.3 - as basic and stripped down as I can make it (enjoy it that way). | https://ustaknow.bandcamp.com/ |
phog masheeen | The Lower Rings | Hip-Hop, Experimental | This track is from the collection "phog masheeen in the underworld." It was recorded with Logic Pro 10.7.7. | https://soundcloud.com/mark-a-soden-jr |
eassae | Kate Libby | Electronic | Made and mastered everything you hear. Synths are all from init. Vocal courtesy of Synthesizer V, Natalie. | https://eassae.com |
Jai Mohan | Saturn (acoustic) | Singer-Songwriter, Jazz | https://soundcloud.com/jai-official-music
Coyote Senate | No Opportunity | Ambient, Classical | Featuring vocals by Mikey Hogan, which, in my mind, completely make the piece. Thanks Mikey, I owe you a drink sometime! | https://on.soundcloud.com/dzoWf |
Black Dragon Fighting Society | I won't | Electronic, Dark | A future garageish track with chopped vocals. I focused more on timbre and rhythm of the vocals rather than the words | https://soundcloud.com/b-d-f-s/i-wont |
Nate Monoxide | Death of an Addict | Pop, Punk | Recorded using FL Studio, Ibanez guitar and bass, and POD Farm. Ended up recording another 15 track album for this month's REM, titled 'Redtop'. | https://natemonoxide.bandcamp.com/ |
eassae | Kate Libby | Electronic, Synth | I wrote, produced, and mastered everything you hear. All synth patches are from Init. | https://eassae.com |
The Irregular Decagon | We're Going Underground/People of the Sun | Indie, Rock | I created this with musicians located in Canada, Thailand & Israel. It was written 2 years ago, but it was put together and recorded this past month. It's the final single fro my debut album Psilocybin & the Psychonaut | https://www.youtube.com/theirregulardecagon |
Safest Outbound Sparrows | Paper and Platitudes | Spoken Word, Indie | Funny thing happened this month, I managed to record two versions of the same track... This one is my favourite though, and, a first for me, messes around with some lo-fi shoegaze influences. Just looking for what direction I want to take album 2! | https://safestoutboundsparrows.bandcamp.com/album/paper-and-platitudes-tactile |
DJ Ghia | Get On Up | Electronic | Minimalistic electronic dance music. Garageband and Akai MPK mini | https://soundcloud.com/todd-warfield-199541239 |
Don Von Claude | Clank | Electronic, Experimental | I used Ableton Live to make this chill and evolving track that morphs into an ambient outro. | https://donvonclaude.bandcamp.com/track/clank |
First Born Sun | 384,000km (The Approximate Distance From Earth to the Moon) | Indie | I wrote this song for a concept album that I am working on. This will be the closing track to Side A of the LP. Still not 100% happy with the arrangement and mix but plan to come back to this in a few weeks to finish. | https://firstbornsun.bandcamp.com/album/a-bird-in-the-hand |
David Thorley | I Davidus, Superfan | Pop, Indie | Not about me. I'm not dead (yet). | https://alonetone.com/dalwynth |
AMUC | A Daydreamer's Nightshift | Electronic, Singer-Songwriter | I was really trying to push my singing as far as I could take it. I had a bunch of vocal parts, and the tricky part was threading them together into something that felt continuous. | https://alonetone.com/amuc/ |
Schmex | Struck | Rock | When I wrote this, I felt as if some havoc was looming nearby. There was an itching, crawling impression that at any moment I could become yet another casualty of the omnipresent "SMITE" button. Perhaps I wrote this as sort of a musical talisman. I'm still on the right side of the sod, mostly vertical, and intermittently productive, so I guess it worked? | https://soundcloud.com/ro-steiner |
Luna Ponderosa | Squeaky Baby Gets the Grease | Rock, Dance | Straight rock instrumental, written & recorded April 23rd. I was gonna write some words, but reconsidered and didn't ruin it. At least, not with singing. | https://siralfrediv.bandcamp.com |
as always | between us | Indie, Guitar | "between us" is the first song written off of our fifth album and the first song we wrote in spring, representing a new chapter for us. this track reflects a yearning for intimacy, capturing the mistakes made in previous relationships and feelings of insecurity that prevent us from true connection in fear of bearing too much of our souls. In this song, we lean into the discomfort of vulnerability and declare our love to the whole picture of each other, making each moment count as it slowly slips away. This ballad is a peak into what stays between us, as is all things. we first formed “as always” over the pandemic, in two separate studios. we have never recorded in the same room together, but writing this ep brought us closer as artists and friends. we collaborated on lyrics and melodies, and it represents a fusion of our musical influences and lived experiences. We hope that this tracks gives you an intimate look on our lives and brings you into the world of us. sincerely, as always. | https://soundcloud.com/as-always-2/between-us |
Power Chair | Power Chair | Punk, Electronic | Analog mixer, drum machines, guitar, computer | https://ltwokay.bandcamp.com |
Caitlin Piper | His Excavator | Comedy, Singer-Songwriter | We are in the midst of a major construction project and I found songwriting to be the best way to cope with the chaos. My husband is very loving and supportive. I appreciate his ability to understand my wacky sense of humor used to create this song. This is my first time ever recording myself and I am excited to learn more! | https://caitlinpiper.bandcamp.com/ |
Rob Parker | There's Nothing Left | Guitar, Rock | I limited myself to only working on my iPad this month. Not sure why. | https://alonetone.com/robertjames1971/tracks/there's-nothing-left |
Savory Flakes | Advanced Mathematics | Rock | Hey all R.E.M.'rs - was able to involve another Flake in the bowl, Lead guitar and vocals from Jim and Drums by Mike as usual. This is a song about math. No, really. Just math. | https://on.soundcloud.com/9YoTr |

Spice Rack Collective | Work and Life | Guitar, Retro | Instrumental with guitar and MIDI instruments. Nick had been working on a piece in GuitarPro, but we had no guitar VSTs on the laptop at the studio, so we tried an organ sound and liked it. :) Matt added a couple of takes of some nice guitar, and then we added MIDI drums and a VST synth for the outro bit. | https://alonetone.com/spicerackcollective/playlists/recurrent-adhocracy---rem-challenge-2023 |

Inspired by what I heard I made an experimental techno-y semi-danceable live coded piece in Tidal Cycles. | https://helpimathrock.bandcamp.com/album/n-speed-mc-clerky |
Boschendal | Where do we go from here? | Electronic, Synth | An old idea that I had on Reason, trying to get into using Cubase more but just found it easier this month to remix in Reason. Prince Joseph Dassah | Small Talk | Pop, Hip-Hop | Kinda about how I really want to talk to someone who used to being my daily life, not dead tho😅, been I while since I produced a Trap inspired beat, so wanted to dip a toe into it a little. Hope you all love it... | https://on.soundcloud.com/UokSD |
Evil Suitcase | 1,2,3, For The Memories | Rock | Vague ideas, vaguely executed. Which would make a good corporate slogan! I had a few words and a bit of a melody, but no real feeling for what it should be, so I did the old strum some acoustic guitar and add things in until it seems like a song.
Mikey Hogan | Precipice (I can't believe you're gone) | Pop | It's a song with a lot of synths, a vocoder and melodyne. I had the melody in my head for a long time, it's good to finally get it out there! | https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan/tracks/precipice-(i-can't-believe-you're-gone) |
Kevyspice | In the Box | Electronic, Jazz | Doofy VST jazz using Superior Drummer and LABS instruments. | https://alonetone.com/kevyspice |
Andrea Szirbik Groft | Golfer's Wife | Country, Singer-Songwriter | This is the tale of a farming golfer's wife. I thought I was going to expand the song into a longer tale, but it stayed a two minute track. Thanks Kristin Nobel for fiddling on April 30th! And thanks to my daughter Amari for taking the photo. This is for all you (farming?) golfer's wives out there listening. <3 | https://soundcloud.com/groft-family-farm |
Dee_ | Wrote I Love You In Recursive | Dance, Electronic | I started out making house music almost 20 years and got away from it over time. Lately I've been getting back into it and really enjoying the process! | https://soundcloud.com/k3nnyl0ginz/ |
Salman Ahad | The Fox and the Wolf | Dark, Electronic | I've been producing this story where someone talks about Malcolm X's Fox and the Wolf metaphor so I thought I'd score it and make that my selection for the month!
Wilsun | Montreal | Indie, Singer-Songwriter | Covering a song written by a friend. Recorded and mixed very quickly (and sloppily) in one night. Everything was done in one take.
Thorsten Nesch | Give me the Crazies | Singer-Songwriter, Indie | This is the title song of my May album in my 1 EP a month series. | https://nesch.bandcamp.com/track/give-me-the-crazies-2 |
