AMUC | Pastiche | Electronic, Synth | My grandmother used to make 'pastiche' for supper, which was basically all the leftovers thrown into a pan. That describes this track perfectly. I had about a dozen different Jeskola Buzz files that I tried to Frankenstein together into something listenable. I used Adobe Audition and was working in a single WAV file, without any multitrack. (Multitrack is such a pain in the neck. I never liked using it.) | https://alonetone.com/amuc/ |
as always | hell or high water | Indie, Singer-Songwriter | ere’s to good friends, slow dives, and finding a way…come hell or high water. we made a few tracks for august, but this one was a stand out. the lyrics hit close to home for the both of us, and “as always,” there is an endless amount of gratitude and deep appreciation for each other as bandmates. | https://soundcloud.com/as-always-2/hell-or-high-water |
Atomic Super Kick | Always Snag Glass Weasels | Experimental, Rock | Just some math rock. Felt like doing something other than Safest Outbound Sparrows for once. | https://atomicsuperkick.bandcamp.com/track/always-snag-glass-weasels |
Big Rips | Tech Bros | Pop, Punk | A rock song about hating work. Extreme overuse of the 2 drum fills I know how to do and no vocal tuning yay | https://bigrips.bandcamp.com |
Black Dragon Fighting Society | All the Time | Dance, Electronic | My take on a French/Filter house style track | https://soundcloud.com/b-d-f-s |
Boschendahl | Stereotype | Ambient, Electronic | Take an old song and make it better, as they say! | https://alonetone.com/boschendal/playlists/boschendal-rpm-2023 |
Bukupanda | Small Plate #1 | Hip-Hop | A remix of myself; messed around in the Endlesss app on some beats and rhymes that were sitting there dormant because I’d not dove into the app for the longest. It’s August 31 and I went for it after remixing everything and deciding “oh snap I might be able to submit something this month!” Like last month, did some quick and dirty muting and drop ins live and screen recording, and boom. Quick, dirty, flawed mix, but another one in the can. 2 month streak woohoo | https://soundcloud.com/bukupanda |
Caitlin Piper | Just Call Poison Control | Singer-Songwriter | No one asked me to make this song, and yet here we are. I hope it helps someone! | https://soundcloud.com/caitlin-piper-90687664 |
David Thorley | The Only Goth Left In Grantham | Indie, Retro | A semi-sequel to an old RPM track (https://alonetone.com/dalwynth/playlists/decommissioned-trams/after-school-theatre-club-uber-alles). Inspired by the name given by someone writing into a radio station | https://alonetone.com/dalwynth |
Dee_ | for terra | Dark, Electronic | It was a really simple process this time -- once I found a chord progression that matched the mood, I started building up some layers, then resequenced the arrangement to make it more coherent | https://soundcloud.com/k3nnyl0ginz |
DJ Ghia | Stirring Up Ghosts | Electronic | I created a track to remember the passing of Robbie Robertson. Created with Garageband. | https://soundcloud.com/todd-warfield-199541239 |
Don Von Claude | See Face | Dance, Dark | Made this short dark dance tune over August. Had trouble finding a good fit for a snare sound so in the end.... No Snare! It features some tingly tangly FX that remind me of pots and pans clashing together under water and a kind of sporadic bass line that comes and goes.Hope you enjoy! | https://donvonclaude.bandcamp.com/track/see-face |
DR3AMER | False Truth | Punk, Rock | ||
Drone Orchestra | HEXADRONE | Ambient, Noise | Drone Orchestra for August, made up of six layers | https://alonetone.com/CoyoteSenate/tracks/hexadrone |
Evil Suitcase | This Town | Synth, Pop | There was a Roland JV-2080 on hand this month with the Dance card, so of course I had to use one of the late nineties styley drum loops it comtained, slowed down, natch! Which started sort of a trip hop kind of track, although it drifted off somewhat. | |
First Born Sun | It’s Ok | Indie | Last song for the album! Looking forward to starting on my next project. | https://open.spotify.com/artist/22Fv5oEAcKLw2A3D67UZ8b?si=groF9n7oTSS5KF2cKfkJfA |
Headlay | Once Hot, Now Cold | Pop, Punk | This is a song we wrote about a specific topic called "one hot, one cold" where you always drink water or some non-alcoholic beverage while simultaneously drinking liquor/alcohol etc. The idea is that this keeps you more regulated while drinking and prevents hangovers. The special condition here was that we needed to write the song lyrics using chatGPT. It took us a lot of effort to not get generic lyrics, but we think we did a decent job! | https://headlay.bandcamp.com/ |
In_winter | ashen days | Ambient, Traditional | Late summer ambience inspired by Mongolian and Siberian traditional music. Jaw harps and overtone flutes with effects | https://soundcloud.com/user-145616674 |
Kevyspice | Trifle | Electronic, Synth | Another last-minute MIDI confection using instruments from Spitfire Audio’s LABS collection and drums from Superior Drummer 3. The overall chord sequences were recommended by YouTuber Venus Theory in a couple of recent YT Shorts. | https://alonetone.com/kevyspice |
lil bits | a some day | Electronic, Noise | https://helpimathrock.bandcamp.com/ | |
LR Friberg | September Peace | Ambient | https://soundcloud.com/lrf_se | |
Metamere | Water Raga | Electronic, Traditional | The work I did for the drone orchestra this month got me interested in making another drone-centric track. The drone with the water noise effect is a patch I made on my Korg Minilogue xd. I created my own stylophone app last winter using p5.js, and added in a lot of exotic musical scales, which got me interested in Indian music. For this song I used the Raga Sindhura Kafi in C, then switched to the Raga Sarasvati in F, which is a mode of the first, then switched back. I added a pitch bend feature to the app this week and practiced with it a bunch to get a feel for it. I routed the phone's audio through my Dreadbox Typhon to enhance it with some effects. | https://soundcloud.com/metamere |
Mikey Hogan | Better Than Everyone | Pop, Rock | Someone here posted The Beths on the current listening channel this month - I found them really inspiring so I tried to write something in their pop rock stylings. | https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan/tracks/better-than-everyone |
Nate Monoxide | TAM | Dark, Electronic | My modernisation of the poem Tam O' Shanter by Scottish poet Robert Burns. In this version, Tam decides to steal a kid's bicycle to cycle home from the pub (rather than riding a horse),when he has an unexpected encounter... | https://soundcloud.com/natemonoxide/tam |
phog masheeen | Bad Faith | Experimental, Hip-Hop | Spawned in a conversation on legal activity, this track grew organically from two words. | https://soundcloud.com/mark-a-soden-jr |
Salman Ahad | Break the Point | Electronic, Soundtrack | Put something together pretty haphazardly post-midnight right before the deadline! Wanted to capture the feeling of elation winning a match or race, and was inspired by the Netflix series on tennis called Break Point! | |
Savory Flakes | Our Odd Lodger | Rock | we went about this one in a backwards way, taking something that has simple and simplifying it. then, "flipped the tape" and made some parts backwards. All Real instruments into GB, drums courtesy of Savory Mike Flake, affects courtesy of whatever random button was pressed. P.S. will try to comment live in the chat instead of having a 15 minute delay. | https://soundcloud.com/user-975931965?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |
Schmex | Retreat | Classical, Rock | There are times when you KNOW something's coming. You see the signs, and against all your good sense and smarts, you head off toward it. In the end, you find yourself stuck, staked, trussed, and waiting for it all to wash over you. | https://soundcloud.com/ro-steiner/retreat?si=9d49e751ea904cada32302857a857b75&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |
Spice Rack Collective | The Giving of Love | Folk, Singer-Songwriter | A love song from Kenny to his lovely wife, about 20 years in the making! Kenny wrote and recorded the vocals and most of the instruments on his own, then kindly brought the tracks to the studio to see what magic our cadre of friends and collaborators might add to his creation. Under Kenny’s gentle direction, Dan and Matt punctuated the first half of the song with guitar embellishments, then traded leads throughout the outro. Rather than playing a standard drum part, Kevin opted to try emulating the sound of an orchestral percussion section via MIDI and plugin, drawing on long-ago memories of concert band rehearsals during spring semesters when the marching band moved indoors. This one was a lot of fun to put together! | https://alonetone.com/spicerackcollective |
The Vague Miracles | Our Lady of Zeitoun | Indie, Synth | From wiki:The first apparition of the Virgin Mary at Zeitoun was recorded on the evening of 2 April 1968. The phenomenon was seen by two Muslim bus mechanics, who claimed to witness a woman dressed in white on the roof of Saint Mary's Coptic Church. One thought she was a nun about to attempt suicide by leaping from the roof, and called for police. Intrigued by the mechanics yelling "don't jump!", a crowd gathered at the site. The police attempted to disperse them, saying that the sighting was just a reflection of the light from the street lamps. However, a church custodian suggested the figure was the Virgin Mary, which greatly excited the crowd. The event itself ended after a few minutes.[1] | |
The Wizards of Vomit | Partially Invisble | Ambient, Guitar | https://thewizardsofvomit.bandcamp.com/ | |
Thorsten Nesch | I haven't left for work and I already wanna go home | Singer-Songwriter, Indie | The song started with the lyrics, and they started with the chorus - I feel like the one or other might relate to that feeling. It turned out to be the title song of my September EP in my 1 EP a month series (since Jan. 2022) | https://nesch.bandcamp.com/album/i-havent-left-for-work-and-i-already-wanna-go-home |
Wilsun | Homesick | Singer-Songwriter, Indie | I’ve been displaced from home for more than a month. “Homesick” was written and recorded using only my Martin Backpacker acoustic travel guitar and my cellphone (Pixel 4a) in a lonely hotel room. It is unmixed and presented as-is. | https://alonetone.com/wng801/playlists/homesick/homesick |
WXO | Alphamorphosis | Ambient, Experimental | It kind of sounds like I made a cinematic game title screen track. Basically I just recorded vocal and synth layers until my ear was satisfied. | https://wxokeys.bandcamp.com/ |

AMUC | Floating on a Silver Thread | Electronic, Singer-Songwriter | I improvised some lyrics and experimented with adding harmony and stuff. I tried to get the voices, drums and synthesizers to play nice with each other. | https://alonetone.com/amuc/ |
An Ode To Brigid | The Path to Healing | Ambient | ||
Andrea Szirbik Groft | Dressed in white | Folk, Singer-Songwriter | I wrote this song as a wedding present for my cousin who just got married. It is the first time that I have watched someone get married who I have watched grow up (I'm quite a bit older than her). I felt like I was channeling all of the emotions of parents watching their kids get married as I wrote this song and I almost envision it could be a father daughter first dance song. I'm still not "done" with arranging it or recording it, but this is a song I would have obsessed over for a super long time so I am grateful for the time limit. :) | https://soundcloud.com/groft-family-farm |

Bukupanda | Buku | Hip-Hop | Composed this beat on the first of the month and added the rhymes on top, then sat on it with little tweaks here and there but got distracted by other unfinished projects. So this is a deadline mix job and said some quick live muting for an arrangement. Tracked with Koala and Loopy Pro, Ipad + iOS, all in the box, vox was internal mic’d | http://soundcloud.com/bukupanda |

Evil Suitcase | This Will Only Take A Minute | Rock | I only had two minutes worth of ideas this month, even with some padding. | |
First Born Sun | By Design | Indie | This one has taken a while to write and arrange. Recording was done over July with a live drummer and female backing vocals. This one will be the last track on the album. | https://firstbornsun.bandcamp.com/album/a-bird-in-the-hand |
In_winter | amid the times | Ambient, Guitar | watching the ocean waves in my head | https://soundcloud.com/user-145616674 |
Kevyspice | Reduce, Reuse, Recycle I | Electronic, Noise | Smooshed together an old drum machine arrangement I'd programmed in 1996, a short tape loop from a couple of years ago, and some synth noises from a little Korg volca, ran 'em through some guitar pedals, recorded live into Reaper, and just adjusted the volume levels a little bit before rendering. Mostly just wanted to see if the setup worked, like writing a nonsense poem in WordPad or whatever to test the $10 printer from the thrift store. Looking forward to making more intentional nonsense in the future. :) | https://alonetone.com/kevyspice |
KV Schaefer | How Much Hummus Is Too Much Hummus ?!?!?! | Rock, Punk | From the Wikipedia: “Hummus (/ˈhʊməs/, /ˈhʌməs/; Arabic: حُمُّص ḥummuṣ, “chickpeas”),also spelled hommus or houmous, is a dip of Arab origin, spread, or savory dish made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. The standard garnish in the Middle East includes olive oil, a few whole chickpeas, parsley, and paprika.” But……how much is too much??? | https://www.kyleschaefer.com |
lil bits | lil bits and the spell of inertia | Electronic, Experimental | Another live coded track made with Tidal Cycles | https://helpimathrock.bandcamp.com/ |
Luna Ponderosa | Cherenkov | Guitar, Retro | Trying out a couple of new pedals. Guitar, bass, drumachine, voice. Vertigo is unpleasant. Not everything has to mean something, even in its excess. Whom do you trust to give you good information? | https://siralfrediv.bandcamp.com |
Malady of Knots & fencepost | The Price of Greed : Seveso | Experimental, Field Recording | https://lessthanone.bandcamp.com | |
Metamere | Hope For Tomorrow | Electronic, Classical | This piece is somewhat programmatic, somewhat expressive. I wanted to tell a story of moving from a dark place of drudgery and powerlessness to finding courage, strength, purpose, and joy. I’ve been a part of the community for a bit, but this was my first submission. I was excited to use my updated and repaired Synthstrom Deluge to make something cool. I wanted to make full use of its new OLED display, but it didn’t make much difference for this particular song, since I was mostly using my older methods of midi sequencing of synths and multisampled instruments, recording keys improv, and simple beats with synth drums. I did advance my skills a bit learning to use the arranger mode, which allowed me to make a more complex structure for the composition and free up my hands for twisting knobs and doing some keys improv with the lead in the first section during the recording. On the Deluge I used the Drumuge synth kits for the beats, and a TAL Fairlight vibraphone multisampled instrument, which I adore. The other gear used in it were the Dreadbox Typhon for the drone and lead (a patch I modified from the Biblos7 preset),the Korg Minilogue xd with a strings patch I based on the synth strings from Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays’ “As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls” (from the section that was used in a famous cologne ad). I recorded it onto SD card on the Tascam Model 12 Mixer, so I only used the PC for the Audacity software to trim the ends and convert to mp3. | https://soundcloud.com/metamere/tracks |
Mikey Hogan | You Mess With Me | Metal, Punk | I wrote this song on an uke as part of a song a day project a few years ago. Following an encounter at work this month the song jumped right back in to my head and it was louder. | https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan |
Nate Monoxide | Gomorrah (Sin City) | Dark, Electronic | Month 2 of straying outside my comfort zone. Went through three sets of lyrics and vocals before settling on this version. Inspired by The Prodigy, The Old Testament and Las Vegas. | https://soundcloud.com/natemonoxide/gomorrah |
phog masheeen | Noise Girl | Experimental, Pop | This is a song about a crossdressing noise performer at the Norcal Noisefest a few years back. | https://soundcloud.com/mark-a-soden-jr |
Safest Outbound Sparrows | In That Moment | Spoken Word, Experimental | Just a simple heartfelt spoken word track, backed by piano. Not a lot of trickery with this one. | https://safestoutboundsparrows.bandcamp.com/album/fragments |
Savory Flakes | Five Brightly Colored Wires | Rock | Added a bit too much reverb at the end but saw the time running away. This song is an effort to understand what happens when factions exist in isolation, even of themselves. Thanks to Mike K for the drums, and thanks to my favorite store for another cool 80s synth (QS8.1!). I never know where these things will end up. Thanks to the R.E.M. Challenge and I appreciate your comments. | https://on.soundcloud.com/PU97c |

The Wizards of Vomit | ok thanks bye | Rock, Guitar | I made a song with my guitar! : ) | https://thewizardsofvomit.bandcamp.com/track/ok-thanks-bye |

Aaron Parys | Atmospheric Crush | Electronic, Experimental | Electronic Music Track using the Combination of Hardware and software to Create this Track | https://soundcloud.com/aaron-parys/atmospheric-crush |
AMUC | She Dance for the All-Seeing Eye | Electronic, Singer-Songwriter | The track started with some cryptic lyrics that sounded sort of cool, and I tried to build everything else around that. Since 'dance' kept coming up, I added some old-school drum sounds. (I have a bongo here that I rarely use.) | https://alonetone.com/amuc |
Andrea Szirbik Groft | Go to the Forest | Folk, Singer-Songwriter | In a time of intensity at work, I kept walking out to my car and seeing the woods out back, feeling a strong desire to walk out there, slow things down and sort things out in the way that being in the woods always seems to help me do. The percussion is from items that I collected out in the forest and other sounds that I was playing with such as me breathing heavily. | https://soundcloud.com/groft-family-farm |

Caitlin Piper | A Song for Jean-Luc | Singer-Songwriter, Guitar | We lost our sixteen-year-old Boston terrier pug mix this year. His name was Jean-Luc and he was with me from college to building a family of my own. He was an amazing singer, friend and comfort. I wrote this song to remember and honor him. RIP Jean-Luc. | https://soundcloud.com/caitlin-piper-90687664 |
Coyote Senate | You Can Make It Through | Ambient, Guitar | Kept it simple this month with just guitar and vocals. This is about as close to singer/songwriter as I get these days. | https://soundcloud.com/coyotesenate |
David Dineen-Porter | The Sea is Green | Electronic, Pop | Sad happy song | |
David Thorley | Machine Against the Rage | Pop | The self-checkout machine contemplates a career change. | https://alonetone.com/dalwynth |
Dee_ | 432 (ornithomancy) | Electronic, Synth | I've been playing with solfeggio frequencies lately and wanted to try making something using the same sort of idea that wasn't full ambient. All the synths are tuned to middle A=432 (Serum),and I kept it in the key of A. I think it feels a little different with that tuning, but it could completely be placebo tbh! | https://soundcloud.com/k3nnyl0ginz |
DJ Ghia | Keep On Running | Electronic | Minimal upbeat electronic song with Garageband and Akai MPK mini | https://soundcloud.com/todd-warfield-199541239 |
Don Von Claude | Corsica | Ambient, Electronic | I made this track based on how I was feeling during the REM listening parties over the last couple months. I was definitely inpspired by some other works and the overall feeling of listening to all this music and feel like it translated into my next song here. Lots of fun with this one which I think made it come together pretty quick. Its a mellow track thats more focused on FX and ambience than percussion and beats. Hoping to catch a feeling of being some place relaxing. | https://donvonclaude.bandcamp.com/track/corsica |
Drone Orchestra | TRIDRONE | Ambient, Noise | Three drones, recorded independently and layered with light mixing. An ongoing experiment in drone creation--join Drone Orchestra by making a drone! | https://alonetone.com/CoyoteSenate/tracks/tridrone |
Evil Suitcase | Give The People What They Want | Rock | I had a bit of an idea that for some reason wanted to be a hippie jam song. Which seemed like it would be simple enough, plus I'm lazy, so I went with it. Although originally it was sort of acoustic and bongos, but it mutated. | |
First Born Sun | Moving On | Indie | This is one of the shorter pop songs from my upcoming album. | https://firstbornsun.bandcamp.com/album/a-bird-in-the-hand |
In_winter | when eyes are shut | Ambient, Guitar | A space guitar meditation | https://soundcloud.com/user-145616674 |
Kevyspice | Bless Your Heart | Jazz | Threw some canned MIDI piano parts from the EZKeys library on top of a drum part I recorded at my band's rehearsal studio earlier in June, then frantically recorded a couple of bass takes at the last minute and cobbled together the whole mess while my buddies were downstairs playing Pathfinder. The full version of the title, in my head, is "Bless your heart, you sure did try." :) | https://alonetone.com/kevyspice |
KV Schaefer | Two Astrologers | Folk, Singer-Songwriter | This is a song I've been banging around for about a year -- definitely a pandy creation. It's about a liminal moment in a healing journey; the persistent feeling of being existentially lost, even while supported by an abundance of resources. | https://kvschaefer.bandcamp.com/ |
lil bits | deerfox | Electronic, Soundtrack | another live coded tidal cycles track :) | https://helpimathrock.bandcamp.com/album/deerfox |
Luna Ponderosa | A Little Light | Pop, Ambient | While mixing the new album, I procrastinated by whipping up a new track. Sounds like a closer! | https://siralfrediv.bandcamp.com/album/permiso |
Malady of Knots & fencepost | The Price of Greed : Grenfell Tower | Experimental, Field Recording | https://lessthanone.bandcamp.com | |
Mikey Hogan | California Fire | Pop, Rock | I didn't have a lot of ideas going in to this - I wrote and threw out a bunch of different choruses and verses, not being happy with anything. I'm finally happy with this. I had the line "California's always been on fire" in my head for a year or so - it was great to finally write the rest of the song! | https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan/tracks/california-fire |
Nate Monoxide | Yellowjacket | Electronic, Hip-Hop | Partly inspired by Cyberpunk 2077, Yellowjacket will be the title track for an album I've been putting off writing for years. | https://natemonoxide.bandcamp.com/ |

Prince Joseph Dassah | Anti Social (instrumental) | Indie | Not in a singing mood this month, trying to strengthen my production, also not in the right state of mind | |
Rob Parker | Blame | Rock | Purposely simple but I think it sort of works. I kinda like this one. | https://alonetone.com/robertjames1971/tracks/blame-2 |
Roe Rocket | Lynzana | Folk, Electronic | Loopy based 10 minute scratch produced into a short track. Recorded with iPad mic. | https://ltwokay.bandcamp.com |
Safest Outbound Sparrows | Soon... Tomorrow | Spoken Word, Experimental | This track was another genre experiment, further pushing into shoegaze and post-punk inspirations. A little light on the chiptune, but I think the trade off was worth it. Excited to play with other combinations of this and my usual sound in future! | https://safestoutboundsparrows.bandcamp.com/album/soon-tomorrow |

Schmex | Priests on Bikes | Dark, Rock | An act of contrition. Also, I'm gonna tell yo' mama. Featuring Christine Gambrell and the Riley Steiner All Girl Glee Gala. | https://soundcloud.com/ro-steiner |
Spice Rack Collective | She's Out Of Sight 'Cause I Don't Mind | Singer-Songwriter | June 17th, Leum brought to the studio a lovely, plaintive reflection on lost love. He recorded a solid first take, accompanying himself on acoustic guitar, then invited the rest of us to fill out the production as we saw fit. Margaret added some background vocals the same day, and we had a spare, lovely ballad. Of course, I (Kevin) couldn't leave well enough alone. :) After everybody else left, I recorded a couple of takes on drums and bass, added space for a lead of some sort, and tacked on another chorus. Later in the week, Kenny, Margaret, and I used a band rehearsal slot that would otherwise have been canceled to add a couple of electric guitar tracks, tambourine, and (on a whim) a keyboard sax solo! Margaret recorded one take, I recorded another, then I used some DAW shenanigans to pan them left and right and add a phantom harmony sax up the middle. :) Hope Leum likes what we've done with his creation! | https://alonetone.com/spicerackcollective/ |
The Vague Miracles | Under the Olive Trees, 1921 | Indie, Electronic | This song was based on the painting Conversation Under the Olive Trees by Henri Matisse. Chat GPT wrote the basic lyrics and then I changed them to make the song more of a story. Still working on learning how to master in Logic... | |
The Wizards of Vomit | One Tone Metronome | Soundtrack, Guitar | A had the idea for this song a long time ago, but never finished it. It still doesn't feel finished, but it's something at least. I used this song as soundtrack for a recent scifi short movie i made. | https://thewizardsofvomit.bandcamp.com/ |
Thorsten Nesch | Snowflakes | Singer-Songwriter, Indie | SNOWFLAKES will be the title song of my August EP - I release 1 EP a month since Jan. 2022. More and more electronic effects come into the foreground. | https://nesch.bandcamp.com/track/snowflakes |
Wilsun | Force of Nature | Indie, Pop | I wrote another dumb three minute pop song. What have I become? | https://alonetone.com/wng801 |

AMUC | Myopic Wanderlust | Electronic, Singer-Songwriter | I'm nearsighted, and I'll often remove my eyeglasses when walking at night. It heightens all the other senses while visually turning everything into an impressionist painting. | https://alonetone.com/amuc |
Andrea Szirbik Groft | Thank you (a Mother's Day phone call) | Folk, Field Recording | The recording of this song was a bit of a saga. I was waiting to record until later in the month when the spare bedroom that serves as my recording space opened up, but I lost my voice. Then, with literally one day to spare, and finally with a voice again, I went to record only to find out that my equipment is broken. This led to a phone recording and, hence, a phone call recording. I wrote the first half of this song for my mom and played it for her on Mother's Day. I still need to send her the whole thing. | https://soundcloud.com/groft-family-farm |
as always | lovely | Guitar, Indie | a little ballad of inner resolution and peace between the spaces of tumultuous moments shared and unspoken finding comfort in yourself and in someone close to you. we first formed “as always” over the pandemic, in two separate studios. we have never recorded in the same room together, but writing brought us closer as artists and friends. we collaborate on lyrics and melodies, and our tracks represents a fusion of our musical influences and lived experiences. We hope that this song gives you an intimate look on our lives and brings you into the world of us. sincerely, as always. | https://soundcloud.com/as-always-2/lovely |
Beyond the Limes | Grey City | Guitar, Pop | This is the sister version of one of the songs from my RPM Challenge EP, but in the jangly, Power Pop style as I'd originally conceived. | https://soundcloud.com/user-429963471-548018532 |
Black Dragon Fighting Society | Release | Dance | A WIP house track created to get me back into the swing of things after an ear infection and hearing damage | https://on.soundcloud.com/PnVUY |
Boschendal | Pinko | Electronic, Retro | An old song, reworked in the key of A | https://alonetone.com/boschendal/playlists/boschendal-rpm-2023 |
Caitlin Piper | Nut Allergy | Guitar, Singer-Songwriter | May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month. This song offers a behind the scenes look at the anxiety that can come with loving and caring for someone with a nut allergy. This is my second time recording myself and first time adding percussion. | https://on.soundcloud.com/8sYwP |
Coyote Senate | Caldera Three | Metal, Rock | I intended to record vocals for this but life got complicated | https://soundcloud.com/coyotesenate/caldera-three |
David Thorley | Good Grief Alice Cooper | Indie | I wanted to get something off my chest. It sort of speaks for itself. | https://alonetone.com/dalwynth |
Dee_ | chilling with horrors you can't conceive | Electronic, Dark | This wasn't my original REM track. I was going to record one with spoken word vocals and I got in my head about it and welp it's deadline time so here's another one I started this month. I think it's also pretty good | https://soundcloud.com/k3nnyl0ginz |
DJ Ghia | Snowglobe | Electronic | Downtempo/Funk/Chillout converge for this track. Using Garageband and Akai MPK mini | https://soundcloud.com/todd-warfield-199541239 |
Don Von Claude | Forger | Electronic, Experimental | Came up with the lead track first and made some variations of it, then added some beats and with some slight and a few other FX tracks. It would have been nice to add some more stuff in the first part leading up to the break in the middle but it didn't happen in time. | https://donvonclaude.bandcamp.com/track/forger |

eassae | Lydia Deetz | Electronic | Wrote, recorded, played, mastered everything you hear. All in-the-box. | https://eassae.com |
Evil Suitcase | Name Of The Game | Pop | Since I had no good ideas, I used some of the songwriting guidelines from The Manual by The Timelords/KLF to come up with my track, although I did go chorus-breakdown-chorus and not chorus-breakdown-double chorus at the end as they recommend. | |
First Born Sun | Astronaut / Cosmonaut | Indie | Written for Side B of my upcoming concept album. This is where things start going wrong for the protagonist. | https://alonetone.com/Firstbornsun |

lil bits & the wizards of vomit | the anti-instrument | Experimental, Guitar | This is a collaboration between myself and myself. I started with a live coded backing track as lil bits and filled it with lots of WOV guitar sounds. | https://helpimathrock.bandcamp.com/ |

Matt Manning | As High as a Firefly | Ambient, Experimental | Ambient, samples, amp, microphone, Logic, reverb | https://soundcloud.com/chroma_nap |
Mikey Hogan | Magpie | Ambient, Singer-Songwriter | This is an attempt at writing a song over a drone. I recorded my Ovum synth playing an F major 7 Chord and started strumming over it. Everything came together from there. I attempted a more complicated cannon at the end but it took away from the simplicity so I kept it just one layer deep! | https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan |
Nate Monoxide | A Romanticised Version | Pop, Punk | This month I wrote and recorded another 15 song album. The song "A Romanticised Version" is about falling for the idealised version of a person that you never really knew. I've trimmed a verse, pre-chorus, and some instrumental out of this mix so it doesn't run too long for REM. | https://natemonoxide.bandcamp.com/album/redeye |
PDF Format | Free At Last | Singer-Songwriter | Heart is broken. Wrote it down as music. | https://dineenporter.bandcamp.com/album/fortitude |
Peter Benson | For Aldous Huxley [DEMO] | Ambient, Guitar | This month I finished recording the album I wrote on spring break in April. Last month I shared the first demo, here's the second! Prince Joseph Dassah | Happy Loner 🌓 | Jazz, Pop | Hey guys, this is a I'm working on releasing on July and it's still in the working progress but it's almost done, just want to know what you think about it. Hope you love it too | https://m.soundcloud.com/prince-joseph-dassah/small-talk-solo-version |
Roe Rocket | Oolala | Folk, Electronic | One take guitar singing, dubbed with a casio and a viola. | https://ltwokay.bandcamp.com |
Safest Outbound Sparrows | A Medley From "Fragments" | Spoken Word, Experimental | This is a sneak preview of an EP I'm putting together called Fragments. It takes some of the scrappy little lines of poetry I've written over the years that were too short to be used in longer works, and gives them a home. Also wanted to try something new by arranging a few as a capella vocal pieces! | https://safestoutboundsparrows.bandcamp.com/ |
Savory Flakes | Premature... | Retro, Rock | some guitars, some ideas, some rehashing, some excellent drum work by Mike K and a gifted guitar track, redo everything else, put it in a bucket. As always, some stuff plugged into GarageBand | https://on.soundcloud.com/BuvuC |
Schmex | Skinny Vinnie and the Kiss of Death Brass | Rock | Good clean fun. Rodge on drums. Everything else is my fault. | https://soundcloud.com/ro-steiner |
Spice Rack Collective | Best Friend | Singer-Songwriter, Rock | Leum dropped off some lyrics at last month's REM recording session, to see what the other folks in the group would do with them. Well, Robbie had a couple of guitar parts recorded in his voice memo app this time around, and one of them perked Kevin's ears up. :) Turns out they were a good match. The piano part came about when Robbie thought to try the chord sequence while Kevin took a quick bio-break before laying down another drum take. We're glad we thought to record that keyboard version. :) | https://alonetone.com/spicerackcollective |
T.Z1 | Mind Right | Hip-Hop, Electronic | feat. Vocals by AAP & Delmar African Wine on freesound.org, beat made in garageband. Extra voicenote fx added in bandlab | https://soundcloud.com/tzonez |
The Vague Miracles | Daphnis & Chloe | Electronic, Indie | Finally made the jump from GB to Logic. Too bad I'm an idiot... | https://thevaguemiracles.bandcamp.com |
Thorsten Nesch | Make sure you have a falcon on your shoulder | Singer-Songwriter, Indie | I record & release 1 EP a month, since Jan. 2022. As it turns out folk playlists don't like my distorted guitar and the indie PLs not my sparse instrumentation... | https://nesch.bandcamp.com/track/make-sure-you-have-a-falcon-on-your-shoulder-or-at-least-a-whiskey-in-your-hand |
Wilsun | My Butterfly | Indie, Singer-Songwriter | Basically a rewrite of a famous song about a girl who was a caterpillar but turned into a butterfly and flew away. Recorded and mixed very simply and quickly using only my acoustic guitar and a 10 year old iPad Air (Gen 1). | https://alonetone.com/wng801 |

Schmex | Struck | Rock | When I wrote this, I felt as if some havoc was looming nearby. There was an itching, crawling impression that at any moment I could become yet another casualty of the omnipresent "SMITE" button. Perhaps I wrote this as sort of a musical talisman. I'm still on the right side of the sod, mostly vertical, and intermittently productive, so I guess it worked? | https://soundcloud.com/ro-steiner |

as always | between us | Indie, Guitar | "between us" is the first song written off of our fifth album and the first song we wrote in spring, representing a new chapter for us. this track reflects a yearning for intimacy, capturing the mistakes made in previous relationships and feelings of insecurity that prevent us from true connection in fear of bearing too much of our souls. In this song, we lean into the discomfort of vulnerability and declare our love to the whole picture of each other, making each moment count as it slowly slips away. This ballad is a peak into what stays between us, as is all things. we first formed “as always” over the pandemic, in two separate studios. we have never recorded in the same room together, but writing this ep brought us closer as artists and friends. we collaborated on lyrics and melodies, and it represents a fusion of our musical influences and lived experiences. Evil Suitcase | 1,2,3, For The Memories | Rock | Vague ideas, vaguely executed. Which would make a good corporate slogan! I had a few words and a bit of a melody, but no real feeling for what it should be, so I did the old strum some acoustic guitar and add things in until it seems like a song. | |
Mikey Hogan | Precipice (I can't believe you're gone) | Pop | It's a song with a lot of synths, a vocoder and melodyne. I had the melody in my head for a long time, it's good to finally get it out there! | https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan/tracks/precipice-(i-can't-believe-you're-gone) |

lil bits | lil bits in the herb circle | Electronic, Dance | For the first time ever I attended an algorave (a party where people dance to the music of algorithms). Inspired by what I heard I made an experimental techno-y semi-danceable live coded piece in Tidal Cycles. | https://helpimathrock.bandcamp.com/album/n-speed-mc-clerky |
Boschendal | Where do we go from here? | Electronic, Synth | An old idea that I had on Reason, trying to get into using Cubase more but just found it easier this month to remix in Reason. Now that I know a bit more about music theory discovered this song is one chord, D Maj! | https://alonetone.com/boschendal/playlists/boschendal-rpm-2023 |
In_wınter | water clouds | Indie, Ambient | another lo-fi-ey track for my kalimba project | https://soundcloud.com/user-145616674 |

Hope you all love it... | https://on.soundcloud.com/UokSD |
Kevyspice | In the Box | Electronic, Jazz | Doofy VST jazz using Superior Drummer and LABS instruments. | https://alonetone.com/kevyspice |
Andrea Szirbik Groft | Golfer's Wife | Country, Singer-Songwriter | This is the tale of a farming golfer's wife. I thought I was going to expand the song into a longer tale, but it stayed a two minute track. Thanks Kristin Nobel for fiddling on April 30th! And thanks to my daughter Amari for taking the photo. This is for all you (farming?) golfer's wives out there listening. <3 | https://soundcloud.com/groft-family-farm |

Salman Ahad | The Fox and the Wolf | Dark, Electronic | I've been producing this story where someone talks about Malcolm X's Fox and the Wolf metaphor so I thought I'd score it and make that my selection for the month! | |
Wilsun | Montreal | Indie, Singer-Songwriter | Covering a song written by a friend. Recorded and mixed very quickly (and sloppily) in one night. Everything was done in one take. | |

The leads were really fun to mess around with, and the lyrics tho not my favorite, do seem to fit Farley well. The song itself is dropping on my streaming platforms in February, and then a good couple of weeks after that ill be dropping an e.p., so look forward to that. If your on reddit, come find me under the sme name as usual, some fun shit happens over there. Iv been trying to finish this track for months just so i can release it here first. Bukupanda (remixing Umbrella State Broadcasting) | Pentheus (Buku Broadcast Mix) | Hip-hop | Umbrella State Broadcasting’s “Pentheus” was a previous REM submission (July ‘22). I was asked if I wanted to try my hand at a remix of a track off of the EP it’s a part of, and “Pentheus” is the one I chose, sampling some choice snippets from a stereo mix of the track to build around. I did that, and wrote and recorded some words to boot, inspired by the Pentheus legend (of course) and the Star Wars show Andor whose finale was fresh in my mind. | |

AMUC | Quantum Voyager | Electronic, Singer-Songwriter | I think I had the urban myth of 'backrooms' on my mind as I was writing the lyrics. There's something surreal about accidentally 'glitching' out of reality. | https://alonetone.com/amuc/tracks/quantum-voyager |
Big Rips | Wellness Check | Indie, Punk | Depression stuff as per usual. Will probably clean up or lose the power tapping when it hits the album. | |
Black Bear Black Sheep | Jack Square's Theme | Electronic, Metal | A character theme song for a video game | https://alonetone.com/BillyBear/tracks/jack-square's-theme |
Coyote Senate | Handwritten Letter After Many Quiet Years | Ambient, Folk | Trying to get back to a simpler format this month. Focusing on live loops, synth drones, and a pile of guitar pedals | https://soundcloud.com/coyotesenate/handwritten-letter-after-many-quiet-years |
David Thorley | Kamikaze Pilot | Blues, Jazz | Another messy song, written and recorded in haste. Wobbles out of control a couple of times. Next month's will get a bit more care and attention (I hope)... | https://alonetone.com/dalwynth/tracks/kamikaze-pilot |
Evil Suitcase | Beach Crowd | Pop | Originally I was aiming for a much different kind of song, but it went off the rails at some point and I ended up with this. Additional vocals by Patricia Wake. Should have probably called it (We Are) The Beach Crowd as a nod to Motorhead............ | |
Glytek Audio | Plesiosaur | Electronic, Dance | Electro-ey Acid, or Acid-ey Electro. Made with MPC One & TD-3. | |
Griza | Manatee | Metal | A song originally written about looming extinction at the hands of the endless greed of the human race, though it is instrumental, which makes that hard to get across. Two more REM tracks and I'll release them as an EP and get to work on my second album. | |
Jai Mohan | hush/ sing (lead me to the open grave) | Punk, Pop | https://jaimohan.bandcamp.com/album/hush-sing-single | |
lil bits | Lil Bits and the never ending gravitational pull towards insanity | Ambient, Electronic | Live coding session in TidalCycles | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7xWqz7J60o&list=PL83981dz4WdCTiMzgqwyzx-7sND6C07Pv |

Mikey Hogan | Idling | Singer-Songwriter | Feeling like I'm not going anywhere or achiving anything. Having Covid isn't helping. But I found a nice chord progression. | |
Nimbostrata | Soilani | Ambient, Electronic | ||
Prince Joseph Dassah | Make Believe | Indie, Pop | Sorry about this track being corrupt at the August listening party. I had to resend the track this month. Hope you enjoy it. The Album therapy is out now on Audiomack, you use the link to the song to listen to the entire album. I also co-produced this track🧡✌️ | https://audiomack.com/princejosephdassah/song/make-believe |
Rob Parker | Keep it Together | Rock | It's pretty awful but it exists so it's a win. | https://alonetone.com/robertjames1971/tracks/keep-it-together |
Salman Ahad | Entrance to Salimor | Classical, Soundtrack | Wanted to make something inspired by the great soundtrack to Rings of Power, the new Lord of the Rings show. I took an arp pattern from the show and then used that as a starting point for this piece. | |
Savory Flakes | Guidebook | Rock | September is gone but it still haunts us! First time using actual speakers to mix, an ancient boom box might be better than fancy headphones. Superb Drumming by my constant pal Mike. | https://on.soundcloud.com/jtSUC |
Schmex | Toodew Medew | Synth, Field Recording | A stroll. | https://soundcloud.com/ro-steiner/toodew-medew?si=d2b8c8686334406288fa04814de191fa&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |

Added some special fx thru bandlab app. Thx for listening! | https://soundcloud.com/tzonez/scorch?si=a109caf790e944e79e1e5ab04cc845b3&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |
TeeKayEn | Number | Dance, Electronic | WIP Juke/Bass Track | |
The Vague Miracles | Pieces of Babylon | Synth, Rock | just a little ditty about trying to get from earth to heaven when god doesn't want you to be there... | |
The Wizards of Vomit | hip. hip. hooray. | Guitar, Indie | This song celebrates guitars sounding like saxophones | https://thewizardsofvomit.bandcamp.com/track/hip-hip-hooray |
Thorsten Nesch | This will hurt a little | Singer-Songwriter, Country | I record 1 EP a month thanks to access to a shared studio space. THIS WILL HURT A LITTLE, we all been there. | https://nesch.bandcamp.com/album/this-will-hurt-a-little |
WXO | Here In Time But Nowhere In Space | Ambient, Traditional | The best way to learn an instrument is to write music to play on said instrument, so this piece serves the purpose of learning some guitar. I used real instruments as the basis for the rest of it. The beats are the stock built in ones from my PSR 72 Yamaha keyboard but recorded on the mic instead of through a cable. I use almost exclusively a cheap Dolphin Hammond Organ for the keyboards here. Some MIDI supports my vocals; I thought it would be cool to sing alongside a Vocaloid. The result is a relaxed yet raw and dark sound. Simple, but intimate. | https://wxokeys.bandcamp.com/track/here-in-time-but-nowhere-in-space |

A Herd of Turtles | There Are No Words to Say | Jazz | A challenge this month as my laptop failed and I had to repurpose an old one. So I was only able to put this piano version together. | https://alonetone.com/Aherdofturtles/tracks/there-are-no-words-to-say |
Aaron Parys | August Distractions | Experimental, Electronic | A little more mellow for the End of Summer .. Add a Video Track on my YT account... Used Different instruments and Effects in this Track | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNiXtoTb1gU |
AMUC | Off The Grid | Ambient, Electronic | I like how this one came out. It felt more like weaving a sonic tapestry than composing (although I did have a nice chord sequence in there). | https://alonetone.com/amuc/tracks/off-the-grid |
Artificial Memory Trace & Nimbostrata | The Tunnels of Everlasting Fluctuations (Excerpt) | Electronic, Ambient | ||
BADCOMBINA | Buttdial Romance | Electronic, Pop | Buttdial Romance was a project spawned from #bad song titles in Discord. I accidentally forgot that the prompt was Buttdial Bromance so here we are now with a quirky love song. An extra special thanks to my cowriter xs whom tied all my dumb ideas together with words. | https://soundcloud.com/badcombina/buttdialromance |
Big Rips | Why Is Everyone So Happy? | Guitar, Rock | I ripped off Elvis Costello. I used a new drum sample library that's triggered with my e-kit! | |
Black Bear Black Sheep | You Could Come Along | Folk, Electronic | This EP, my first ever, contains two previous REM tracks and three brand new tracks, all of which are in a similar vein of electrofolksy video game music. | https://blackbearblacksheep.bandcamp.com/album/a-little-adventure |
Black Dragon Fighting Society | Dante | Electronic | A breakbeat track. My first new track in a while now that my hearing is back | https://on.soundcloud.com/Az78 |
BogStomp | Conform | Rock | Inspired by those willing to break with the norms of life. A short song about the pressure to conform to whatever we're supposed to conform to. | |
Coyote Senate | Red River (Feat. KJ Johnson) | Dark, Experimental | Spent some time working with (licensed music therapist!) KJ Johnson on some guided meditations this month, and at the end I suggested a different take. This is a full collab between Coyote Senate and KJ Johnson, with the latter on voice and uke. | https://soundcloud.com/coyotesenate/red-river-feat-kj-johnson |
David Thorley | That Afternoon We Watched Fast Times At Ridgemount High | Indie | amateurish racket? | https://alonetone.com/dalwynth/tracks/that-afternoon-we-watched-fast-times-at-ridgemount-high |
Evil Suitcase | Gravity Will Always Win | Rock | Since I always have little bits and parts and ideas I don't do anything with each month, I went through some of those and picked one to work on for this month's song. Probably should be slower and more minimalist than it ended up, but I drifted away from the original thought, as sometimes happens. | |
Jai Mohan | passive ideation | Singer-Songwriter, Jazz | ||
KimberlySue | Fettuccine Blu | Dance, Electronic | bad song title submission | https://soundcloud.com/user-883663205/fettuccine-blu-1?si=131ae5d6837f4da79b42f25f2f4e4870&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |

mellow wınter | lıghthouse on the moon | Ambient, Classical | A kalimba from outer space | https://soundcloud.com/user-145616674/lighthouse-on-the-moon |
Mikey Hogan | Rain Song (I want it to rain) | Singer-Songwriter | This is my rain song, I want it to rain. OK look I wrote recorded this before the submission deadline but technically in September already. Please forgive me. I didn't want to break my REM streak! It's short song in my song a day style - recorded live with two mics. As I was finishing I remembered I have a rain stick so it shows up at the end too. I want it to rain. | |
Myf | Interlude 2 | Ambient, Experimental | First time making a track with VCV Rack. It's an ambient electronic soundscape thing. | https://soundcloud.com/myfcat/interlude-2 |
Prince Joseph Dassah | Make Believe | Indie, Pop | it is the first single from my debut album | https://audiomack.com/princejosephdassah/song/make-believe |
Salman Ahad | Float | Ambient, Classical | Always wanted to try something woodwinds-heavy and was listening to the OST for C'mon C'mon so took that inspiration and ran with it on this track! | https://alonetone.com/SalmanAhad/playlists/tamanna-(ep)/float |
Savory Flakes | Your Moral Compass | Rock | Love my new preamp. Not sure I know how to use it yet. Love my Telecaster. As for the song, well, I set her free. | https://on.soundcloud.com/kPiW |
Schmex | What's Beneath | Soundtrack | This one's a little different from my previous releases. Definitely NOT arena rock. I loathed it until I wrote the string part, then I Listened to it and thought, "Hey Schmex, this doesn't suck. Keep at it." I could be totally wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. | https://soundcloud.com/ro-steiner/whats-beneath?si=c4689c46afc14b039906f3502acdfbbe&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |
T.Z1 | So God Made a Farmer | Electronic | Made with garageband loops and beats combined with spoken words from elvis and a paul Harvey poem. Added " punchy rap" bandlab fx also | https://soundcloud.com/tzonez/godfarmer |
The Irregular Decagon | I'm a Mushroom | Indie, Rock | This is the 5th single from my debut album 'Psilocybin & the Psychonaut'. Out of all the songs that have been written for this album, I'm A Mushroom took the longest to write & record. It's the one track that is authentic to the 'decagon' factor in my artist name (I layered 10 different vocal takes over one another). The song itself was inspired by a psychedelic journey from Spring 2022. | https://soundcloud.com/user-255483966/im-a-mushroom-the-irregular-decagon?si=33749e2d97534840bb3152c466db210c&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |

Toys in the Static | Poor Memento (Xenolith Xoros excerpt) | Electronic, Dance | Track from upcoming release- meant to be and old school rave, techno, housey type of thing. The album will be one long track like 40 min or so, made to sound like a dj mix. All hardware | https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/jWEHjWZhMHnb7D7V6 |
Umbrella State Broadcasting | Bukupanda - Combo Plate #1 (Pots + Pans Mix by Umbrella State Broadcasting) | Hip-hop | A remix of "Combo plate #1" by Bukupanda which incorporates kitchenware as percussion where possible. | |
WXO | Stardust | Electronic, Jazz | This is a track that's meant to go along with a comic book in space themed world in a video game. |

AMUC | Sideband Phantasm | Electronic | Track was composed one-armed. | https://alonetone.com/amuc/tracks/sideband-phantasm |
BADCOMBINA | thoughts.wav | Pop, Electronic | Another hyper-pop-ish track from myself. While it does sound like a love song I think it is really about having a conflicting conversation with yourself. Wow so deep! | https://soundcloud.com/badcombina/thoughtswav/ |
Bastet | G-Shit | Electronic | Nothing super special; I came across NJ's vocals while looking for new material to work with, and I had some stems from another scrapped beat that really fit. Pair that with some new tricks I learned in Serum and "G-Shit" was born! | https://synthemedia.bandcamp.com/track/bastet-ft-nj-g-shit |
Big Rips | Like This | Rock, Indie | An uplifting song for those of us with broken brains. | |
Black Bear Black Sheep | Lights on Forest Street | Indie, Soundtrack | Tried to create an ending theme for a video game that does not exist. | https://alonetone.com/BillyBear/tracks/lights-on-forest-street |
Blind Colours | Lightning Scars | Ambient, Experimental | A traditional style jaw harp improvisation with a delay pedal over a drone | https://soundcloud.com/user-291449380/lightning-scars |
BukuPanda | Hold the Line (A Thousand Little Cuts) | Hip-hop | I made this inspired by the documentary, “A Thousand Cuts,” about the Filipino journalist—and recent Nobel Peace Prize winner—Maria Ressa, and her company Rappler, who was and is targeted by the Filipino government for its revelations of corruption by government and elected officials and for documenting President Rodrigo Duterte’s murderous drug war. The vocal snippets come from Ressa’s Nobel Prize lecture. | |
Corb | Replacer | Electronic | DNB neurofunk with fallout samples made in reaper | |
Coyote Senate | Mountains Like Teeth | Dark, Electronic | Warning: This one gets a little piercing. Headphone listeners in particular, be ready to ride the volume for your own comfort level. Worked backwards for this one, starting with lyrics and moving into a drum machine beat. Then finally guitar and synth and vocals. I really like the way the synth line turned out. | https://soundcloud.com/coyotesenate/mountains-like-teeth |
David Thorley | One More Humiliating Climbdown | Guitar | It's been a funny old month in UK politics. I turned it into a love song no one wanted to hear. | https://alonetone.com/dalwynth/tracks/one-more-humiliating-climbdown |
Evil Suitcase | Can Do | Pop | I didn't have much REM motivation this month, so I just phoned this one in. Although I did entertain myself while recording it by never using any first ideas I had for parts, sounds, etc. Which resulted in some questionable choices...... | |
Griza | Carrion | Metal | Another seven-minute-instrumental-indesicive-subgenre-metal track. | |
Jai Mohan | if art is dead then i'm its ghost (demo) | Pop, Indie | ||
KimberlySue | Today is Ours | Singer-Songwriter | I wrote this one quite awhile ago and recorded it on my first RPM a couple years ago. I've switched DAWs and lost the original. Also, its nice to see my recording ability has gotten a bit smoother! This song has stuck with me and I like it a lot. Easy like a chill summer morning. | https://soundcloud.com/user-883663205/today-is-ours-1?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |

LR Friberg | The Northern Tides | Ambient, Electronic | ||
Luna Ponderosa | Emotional Sabotage Animal | Indie, Metal | unfinished, poorly mixed, but here is Some riffing on steel tongue drum, kalimba, and mbira, then into a guitar-bass-cowbell pop song. Image from craiyon.com. | |
Malady of Knots & fencepost | The Price of Stone: Medlock Culvert | Experimental, Field Recording | ||
mellow wınter | wıngs of glass | Classical, Traditional | A sentimental gothic short story in music. Kalimba solo | https://soundcloud.com/user-145616674/wings-of-glass |
Mikey Hogan - Boys Dressed as Witches | Getting Worse | Rock | This is the 4th project file I made for July and the only one that got finished. It was tricky to keep momentum with this project without repeating myself. Most of this song was written on the keyboard & uke as opposed to guitar because I was getting some elbow pain to pile on to that creative frustration of non-starter ideas. Still I'm happy enough with this song, It felt to push through the creative block with something rather than to sit out of July's REM. | https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan/tracks/getting-worse |
Myf | Interlude 1 | Soundtrack, Electronic | A soundtrack in the style of Disasterpeace, made after watching his Fez music workshop video. | https://soundcloud.com/myfcat/interlude-1 |
Oriondrive | Matrix B | Electronic, Dance | ||
Prince Joseph Dassah | reset | Guitar, Indie | It's a fun song that I recorded recently. Hope you love it. | https://audiomack.com/princejosephdassah/song/reset |
Salman Ahad | Release Relief | Ambient, Electronic | Didn't have time to finish this but I was inspired by Disasterpiece's workshop on his Fez soundtrack so I wanted to try something using those techniques! Thanks to Big Rips for the ending suggestion to wash everything out in a sea of noise! | |
Savory Flakes | (it's) Hard To Be Me | Retro | What did I make? Noise I guess with some singing and stringed instruments with guest traps | https://soundcloud.com/user-975931965/its-hard-to-be-me?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |
Schmex | Jubilee | Rock | Yippee-kai-yay | https://soundcloud.com/ro-steiner/jubilee |

The Vague Miracles | Smoke | Electronic, Synth | I did a 5 song EP when I was on vacation. Two of the songs i'm going to use for my next album but I wanted to share the new direction ive been heading. This is one of the five songs... | |
The Wizards of Vomit | A close up of a dog wearing a hat wearing a hat | Rock, Folk | The title of this track was involuntary chosen by an AI algorithm that tries to describe images by the amount of hats that are worn by other hats | https://thewizardsofvomit.bandcamp.com/track/a-close-up-of-a-dog-wearing-a-hat-wearing-a-hat |
Thorsten Nesch | The One I tried to Love | Singer-Songwriter, Indie | This song is from my July album of my 1-EP-per-month-series (started January 2022). I demoed my songs over the last 20 years - now I record them in a shared studio space. | https://nesch.bandcamp.com/album/only-strangers-and-miles-davis |
Tribe Of Astronauts | Perroxanthia | Ambient | ||
Umbrella State Broadcasting | Back to the Sources | Electronic, Field Recording | This final version is really a heavily edited version of the original demo, whose haunting quality I could not seem to duplicate in subsequent recordings. My fingering is very sloppy and you can hear the arpeggios slowing down, speeding up, and stuttering, but this quality strangely intriques me. It reminds me of the creepy noises a certain fridge from my childhood used to make in the middle of the night. |

A Herd of Turtles | On a Summer Solstice | Jazz | With summer upon us it was difficult to get our trio together. So I decided to put together a solo piano piece. On the morning of June 21st I sat down to write and three hours later this was the result. I appropriately name the song “On a Summer Solstice.” | https://alonetone.com/Aherdofturtles/tracks/on-a-summer-solstice |
Aaron Parys | Moltara Mutation | Experimental, Electronic | Really enjoyed making this Track ... Using a Combination of different Elements and Instruments | https://soundcloud.com/aaron-parys/moltara-mutation |
AMUC | Backroads Singularity | Electronic, Singer-Songwriter | Lost in the backwoods driving a Yugo. You've passed by the same French cafe thirteen times, and each time they're speaking an entirely different language, none of which are French. | https://alonetone.com/amuc/tracks/backroads-singularity |
Artificial Disco | Mr. Clever | Electronic | A groovy little electronic tune made while travelling. The title comes from looking around my living in exasperation, trying to find a title. I have a little "Mr. Clever" cup from the mister men cartoons which my sister gave to me for Christmas once because I'm a smart-ass. Created on a couple of desktop synths. | https://soundcloud.com/artificial-disco/mr-clever |
Bay Mud | Was It All a Dream? | Electronic, Experimental | A challenge from the Deluge community, this song was made entirely using sounds recorded via the Deluge's onboard mic. The patches and kits created feature my kitchen sink, tea kettle, gun shots (from security footage outside my house),mouth pops and guitar. | |
Black Bear Black Sheep | inertia and you | Electronic, Synth | Donkey Kong music | https://alonetone.com/BillyBear/tracks/inertia-and-you-take-2-mix-2/edit |
Coyote Senate | Artifact Creature Golem | Dark, Experimental | I was rushed this month, and I pushed to a higher track count than I usually allow myself to have, so the mix is sloppy. But I still think there's a seed here that works, even if it's not perfect--after all, that's the whole point, right? | https://soundcloud.com/coyotesenate/artifact-creature-golem |
DartAjax | For All I Know | Rock, Retro | I recorded this starting with drums and layering the rest on top. Psych is what I would describe it as. | https://dartajax.bandcamp.com/album/reality-is-hard-to-find |
David Thorley | Flutter Afloat | Folk | A more earnest song, somewhere between a lullaby and a sea shanty. Hastily recorded with just guitars and vocals (hence the bum notes) | https://alonetone.com/dalwynth/tracks/flutter-afloat |
Dog Is Blue | Old Dogs, New Tricks | Indie, Rock | A reaction to last month's challenge, where I (as Bay Mud) accidentally sampled some old Dog Is Blue guitar stems in an electronic track, inspiring a garage-folk re-interpretation of those melodies and progressions. | |
Enamel Flossing (wınter fresh) | 긴 밤 지새우고 | Ambient, Indie | A solo kalimba. Part of the Animal Crossing challenge. I didn't go for the exact AC sound but rather the general vibe | https://soundcloud.com/user-145616674/gstvo5lzxltt |
Evil Suitcase | The Same Mistake | Rock | Normally I spend the first few weeks of the month coming up with ideas and parts for songs, and then pick whatever seems most fully realized or easiest to complete and record that (the inspiration method.) This month I took the first bit that I came up with and decided to complete a song based on that (the perspiration method.) Definitely much harder. | |
Griza | Sea Spirit | Metal | EP coming soon(tm) | |
Jai Mohan | museum | Singer-Songwriter, Classical | https://jaimohan.bandcamp.com/album/and-i-have-drowned-a-thousand-ships | |

KR Seward | Degreen | Noise, Electronic | Made using recordings of Experimental Noise Room, Grainstorm and MuMobPlat. | |
Lil Bits (partially rebranded from helpimathrock) | Lil Bits and the Cambrian Explosion | Noise, Experimental | this track is dedicated to the single cellular organisms that were alive during the cambrian explosion, must have been pretty wild. | https://helpimathrock.bandcamp.com/track/lil-bits-in-the-cambrian-explosion |
Luna Ponderosa | Calvin | Soundtrack, Indie | Calvin and Christmas are characters in an unwritten novel. But hey, aren't we all? | |
Malady of Knots & Fencepost | The Price of Stone: Merlin's Cave | Experimental, Field Recording | https://lessthanone.bandcamp.com | |
Mikey Hogan - Boys Dressed As Witches | Egocentric Eye | Rock, Blues | A song about being aimless but too scared to choose a path. I wrote it in my head on my bike… and recorded it this month. The guitar is tuned to CGCGCEb, which is too low for these strings, probably | https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan/tracks/egocentric-eye |
Myf | JavaScript Sketch 1 | Electronic, Experimental | This month, I'm travelling and don't have access to my usual DAW, so I made this with JavaScript and Tone.js instead. | https://soundcloud.com/myfcat/javascript-sketch-1 |

Salman Ahad | at first, everything was totes obvi | Experimental | I'm sorry for the random turn this takes but I was trying to take bossa Nova seriously, but then for some reason, an impulse to do something completely random overtook me and it just gave me a lot of joy for some unknown reason | |
Savory Flakes | We May Have Timed That Wrong | Retro | Started late but finished. Too silly? Maybe. | https://soundcloud.com/user-975931965/we-may-have-timed-this-wrong?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |
Schmex | Bluff | Rock | We used to play poker for stuff. For example,: "I'm in for this houseplant" "I'll see your houseplant and raise you a Pittsburgh Pirates cap" "Too rich for me" "Ok, I'm in for the houseplant and the cap, and I'll raise you a Butthole Surfers pin," Sadly, my bluff worked. I won the ugliest, closest to death houseplant I'd ever seen, and I'm wearing the cap in the photo. I've since lost the pin. | https://soundcloud.com/ro-steiner/bluff?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |
T.Z1 | Hazy | Electronic, Ambient | I made this on garageband using various loops and vocals. I also added some extra mastering echo & fuzz fx in bandlab | https://soundcloud.com/tzonez/hazy |

This is the 4th single off my upcoming debut album. | https://soundcloud.com/user-255483966/my-space-the-irregular-decagon?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |

A Herd of Turtles | A Pro Never Ruins A Safe | Jazz | The song title was taken from a quote by a professional safe cracker hire bY Bristol CT to open an old town safe. After figuring out the combo the bolts was so rusted the the safe wouldn’t open. They drilled a hole and still the bolts wouldn’t budge. After banging the safe with a hammer it finally opened. He made arrangements to come back and repair the safe instead of disposal. When he was asked why he was going to repair it he said, “A professional never ruins a safe.” | https://alonetone.com/Aherdofturtles/playlists/a-pro-never-ruins-a-safe/a-pro-never-ruins-a-safe |
Aaron Parys | Flunky May | Experimental | Exploring some Experimental Funk Sounds ... Many Mix's , Re-Mix's ...Ok Done Enjoy!! | https://soundcloud.com/aaron-parys |
Amanda Fagan | The Girl Who Lost Her Grip | Folk, Pop | The girl who lost her grip is a song about loss and grief. The singer struggles to grapple with the loss of her soulmate. She's unsure of how to move forward and go on in life. All of the happy times felt like they went by too fast and now she's left holding onto every piece of the past she can find. She dwells on the thought of the life she thought she was meant to have and people sit by and watch as she slips, unravels, and loses touch with reality. | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtcmYub9f1U |
AMUC | Mime | Electronic, Experimental | Sort of nightmare fuel this month. (Sorry! I'll do some polka next month to make for it, but please don't hold me too that.) | https://alonetone.com/amuc/tracks/mime |
BADCOMBINA | Unpredictable [2205] | Pop | Unpredictable has had a long journey this month with I think seriously three very different variants being made. This version really felt the most true and powerful. This song is really just a battle of my own mind wrapped in a meet-cute pop song. | |
Bay Mud | Old Dogs, New Tricks | Electronic | It all started as an experiment with Euclidean sequencing, as per a challenge from the Deluge users community, but some guitar samples were accidentally loaded in and I ran with it. | |
Black Bear Black Sheep | Tell Me Tell Me | Electronic, Hip-hop | Just a little chillwave beat | https://alonetone.com/BillyBear/tracks/tell-me-tell-me |
Chalices | miss ya--demo | Indie, Singer-Songwriter | dedicated to my dear friend who always encouraged everyone in their art. he listened to my first rpm project and gave the most thoughtful feedback I've ever received. recorded on my iphone | https://chalices.bandcamp.com/track/miss-ya-demo |
Coyote Senate | Still the Ocean | Ambient, Electronic | A texture piece using synths and distorted guitars. Mostly created in-the-box during downtime at work. | https://soundcloud.com/coyotesenate/still-the-ocean |
Dandy From Home | Old Ghosts (Demo) | Folk, Singer-Songwriter | I finished my semester (1 more year to go woo) so now I'm working on a follow up to my RPM record, this is one of the songs that'll be on it | |
David Thorley | Cool Guys | Folk, Indie | A simple song - this one pretty much speaks for itself | https://alonetone.com/dalwynth/tracks/cool-guys |
Evil Suitcase | Give Me What I Want (and Nobody Gets Hurt) | Pop | I was lazy this month and didn't want to tune and mic things, so I let the machines do most of the work. Also used a guest vocalist, Patricia Wake, so I didn't have to sing. Machines went sort of electropop, as they are wont to do. | |
helpimathrock | theintergalacticmanifoldsabc | Experimental, Electronic | The abc from the intergalactic hyperplane. Made this with tidal cycles. | https://helpimathrock.bandcamp.com/track/theintergalacticmanifoldsabc |
Jai Mohan | come and find me | Experimental, Classical | ||
KimberlySue | Cicada | Electronic, Indie | I recorded this earlier this month for a thing for SoundCloud. I like it, I hope you like it, yeah. | https://soundcloud.com/user-883663205/cicada?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |
Luna Ponderosa | Capriccio No. 2 for Unprepared Piano (with Reluctant Dog, Inconsiderate Viol, and Cardinal) | Field Recording, Classical | A bit of rule-breaking, since I included backyard recordings prior to this month, but otherwise in the spirit of REM. I should play the piano more, but it's downstairs (so is the dog) in the art studio and my recording rig is upstairs in my lair. Keys plunked. Dog unimpressed. Violin treated and manipulated. Cardinal just doing his thing. | https://soundcloud.com/tonyhogard/capriccio-no-2-for-unprepared-piano-with-reluctant-dog-inconsiderate-viol-and-cardinal |
LycanSong | Don't Leave | Indie, Singer-Songwriter | Composed and recorded on stream, decided to submit it to the fedivision song contest as well (didn't get in the top 5 but got some compliments that made my day). As always, done in Ableton with VSTs and my voice. I think I used Dubler2 for a bit of it, which is fun. | https://soundcloud.com/acapellawolf/dont-leave |
Malady of Knots & fencepost | The Price of Stone: Eilean Munde | Experimental, Field Recording | ||
Mikey Hogan - Boys Dressed As Witches | Grind My Teeth | Blues, Rock | Another Song in open D using my guitar. The lyrics (and whole arrangement) is fairly straightforward. Despite (or maybe because of) the song's simplicity, it was hard work to get something recorded that matches the stoner-blues vibe I have in my head without sounding too contrived. Did I succeed? Not sure but I had fun at least. | https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan/tracks/grind-my-teeth |
Myf | Overcast | Soundtrack | Soundtrack for turbulent times, made with Spitfire LABS Strings | https://soundcloud.com/myfcat/overcast |
Savory Flakes | Since We're Here | Rock | A laconic investigation of first love . As usual, experimenting with space and open sound. Almost went over the self imposed 3 minute mark! | https://soundcloud.com/user-975931965/since-were-here?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |

Staticsan | Slow Ambience | Electronic, Ambient | A slow. measured atmospheric vibe with a thundering beat to keep it steady. | |
T.Z1 | S T O N E C O L D | Hip-hop | Instrumental hip hop beat made from some garageband loops and bandlab fx | https://soundcloud.com/tzonez/stonecold |
The Irregular Decagon | The World is Falling Apart | Indie, Rock | The song 'The World is Falling Apart' was written as an expression of pain, but as well, a glimmer of hope. I went with original vocal takes because so much pain was released during those first takes. Every sound on the song has been created with the solfeggio frequencies, and also is tuned to the 432Hz & 444Hz frequency. For musicians, I reached out to creative people around the world to help me create this song. As for the video, I wanted to create a psychedelic experience with important imagery for the 3rd eye. | https://soundcloud.com/user-255483966 |
The Vague Miracles | Uvalde | Classical, Experimental | I wrote this other song that was nearly done when the stuff happened in Texas. Being a teacher, it was really hard. Especially because I have one that age. One night I couldn't sleep and this came out. Picture related. | |
The Wizards of Vomit | Off-by-one | Indie, Rock | i like playing the guitar | https://thewizardsofvomit.bandcamp.com/track/off-by-one |
Thorsten Nesch | Keep Your Tears | Indie, Singer-Songwriter | I record 1 EP a month. The songs I have written over the last 20 years. Ongoing project. | https://nesch.bandcamp.com/album/brothers-for-a-while |

WXO | The Discourse (A New Beat Edit) | Synth, Pop | A year ago I made The Discourse as a response to a toxic twitter drama adrenaline rush and now this month, I wanted something cool to solo over with my fun synth machine. I added some texture as well. I had a lot of fun. | https://wxokeys.bandcamp.com/track/the-discourse-a-new-beat-edit |

BADCOMBINA | SNARLING [2204 Version] | Electronic | Been listening to a lot of hyperpop & bubblegum bass lately. Also easter vacation. So enjoy! | https://soundcloud.com/badcombina/snarling |
Bay Mud | Daydreaming at Warp Speed | Electronic, Experimental | Made entirely on the Synthstrom Deluge, this track arose as a challenge whereby every sound involved must be affected by the Deluge's arpeggiator. Each individual drum, synth or sample is triggered by manipulating arpeggiator settings above and beyond the sequenced notes (sync rate, octave, direction, etc.),resulting in a sonic experience that is at times both ambient and glitchy. | |
Coyote Senate | Redwood Black | Rock, Dark | Still cutting back into my roots scoring film, this was supposed to be a doom metal track but I forgot to add the doom or the metal | https://soundcloud.com/coyotesenate/redwood-black |

I am naturally an introvert and need space, but I also recognize that time is fleeting and that when these moments pass I will miss them. I am grateful to be able to have the connection I do so far with my children but sometimes I just need a break. | https://soundcloud.com/user-883663205/shadow?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |

Lilly North | REMEMBER ME | Dance, Dark | Its a deep house track that im releasing on an upcoming EP(it might be an LP, but its only 5 tacks so fuck you its an EP),it took about 2 weeks to put it together and i really struggled with this one as its my first really attempt at deep house(i had a previous track that was vary similar to deep house, but i dont think it quite fit the bill; "ALONE"(go check it out and tell me if you think its deep house)) so i sm really proud of this work, i really hope you like it. Aaron Parys | Trash the Clock | Experimental | using my Electronic instrument's recorded direct to computer on a short and busy Month | https://soundcloud.com/aaron-parys |
AMUC | A Patchwork Passage | Electronic | There was no direct route through the wasteland that was once a thriving settlement. Traversing the terrain required utilizing those places where the road still remained navigable and plenty of improvisation where the routes of yesteryear had completely worn away. Occasionally, a friendly voice could still be found on the CB radio, but the majority of the voices were no longer human. Creatures capable of pressing a button and vocalizing, but not of making any coherent sense beyond that. | https://alonetone.com/amuc/tracks/a-patchwork-passage |
Bay Mud | The Hitch-Hiker | Electronic | A challenge from the Synthstrom Deluge community, this track is 100% composed of sounds from the 1953 movie The Hitch-Hiker (public domain). | |
Big Rips | Tragikarp | Indie, Rock | It's a song about all the little embarrassing things that you remember right before you're going to fall asleep. There are 10 personal examples in the song, with an additional example being messing up submitting the song. Also, it turns out I can only write songs that have the F word in the chorus. Sorry kids. | |
Coyote Senate | Ridgeline Stray | Indie, Electronic | Started by rolling my workflow back about ten years in an effort to get back to my film scoring heyday. Salman Ahad | Throwaway | Classical, Experimental | I really like the end of this track. It kind of feels to me like something I could use to ground myself after a hectic day or when I've got a lot on my mind because the piano just takes control of the track and slows it down to its own deliberate, irregular rhythm. | |
Savory Flakes | Hurtling (To The Top) | Rock | A song about ambition, like what it takes to do the RPM challenge! | https://soundcloud.com/user-975931965/hurtling-to-the-top?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |

Soup Crate (Salman Ahad + Bukupanda) | Prequel to ‘Higher’ | Hip-hop | As the artist name parenthetical says, this is a Salman and Buku co-production. Buku passed an instrumental he’d made over to Salman who added his magic to it giving it a lot more drama that inspired the vocal pairing from Buku you hear, who recorded it under real pain from an injury sustained from a fall early in the month, and put finishing touches on the arrangement and production once he could bear it again. Salman gave some final notes, Buku touched it up, and you have the first track under our new duo name, Soup Crate. (That’s a whole other story). | https://soundcloud.com/bukupanda/soup-crate-salman-ahad-bukupanda-prequel-to-higher/s-qoFW190U3I8 |

Magic Bullet | RPM Challenge Dance Party (Radio Play Mix) | Noise, Pop | This will be our 12th and final piece for the RPM Challenge's Record Every Month thing, that's our year done, so we thought it was party time! We've taken cuts from all the 11 previous tracks, plus the special piece Elling recorded for our recent "Communitas" album, and made it into a 35 minute experimental dance track, of which this is a 3:15 Radio Play Mix (and we hope you like the cheeky artwork)! The Magic Bullet would like to thank you for putting up with us for the last 12 months, we've had great fun doing it. The whole 7 hours of material we've recorded for you will soon be released as one mega-album on the Brazilian netlabel, Church Of Noisy Goat, under the title "Ratione Personae Mentalis". Salman Ahad | To the Treasury of Thoughts | Classical, Electronic | this might be recency bias and I'm sorry for posting before the REM party, but I honestly think this track right here might either be my best so far or at the very least, have the best short section of music I've composed so far. I think that part (from 3:00 to 3:30) was a combination of just a series of lucky mistakes and some amazing composing tips from Winter. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to capture that again haha so I thought I might as well share. I was also lucky enough to have @BogStomp offer to run the track through his real tape machine too so that added some extra analog oomph (although don't blame him for the super distorted tape sounds in the beginning because that's just me finally playing around with Landforms' tape engine) | https://alonetone.com/SalmanAhad/playlists/tamanna-(ep)/to-the-treasury-of-thoughts |

Schmex | 7th Street | Rock, Classical | Before Covid, there was a nightlife. This is an old song celebrating that. Kinda. By the way, I hate my drummer, and I want to punch him in the mouth. | https://alonetone.com/rosteiner/tracks/7th-street |

REM Listening Party
Name | Title | Genre | Description | Link |
---|---|---|---|---|
A Herd of Turtles | Snow Crystals | Jazz | We wanted to start off our REM project with a holiday feel original. The sound was inspired by a poem my daughter wrote when she was 9 was we use in the intro. We recorded through Audacity and used no sounds other the the bass and piano. | https://alonetone.com/Aherdofturtles/tracks/snow-crystals |
AMUC | Before The Frost | Electronic | I was able to get through one song without it thematically turning into nightmare fuel. (It's a Christmas miracle!) | https://alonetone.com/amuc/tracks/before-the-frost |
Big Rips | Rosemerry Christmas | Pop | TIME TO BUM EVERYONE OUT: Christmas Bonus Challenge - short song about my grandmother that passed just after Christmas last year. | |
Big Rips | Smockin | Rock | The chorus was inspired by a lady in an SUV smoking with her windows up screaming at pedestrians legally crossing a street (among other people). The rest is just normal depressing stuff. | https://bigrips.bandcamp.com/track/smockin |
BogStomp | Barfly | Rock | A simple story about drinking in a dark bar and listening to the wisdom of my fellow barflies. | https://alonetone.com/bogstomp/tracks/barfly |
Chalices | Cake | Pop | I want this to sound perfect bc I have SO MANY FEELINGS and it would be great if I could channel them into art without any hiccups but MIXING IS HARD. | https://chalices.bandcamp.com/track/cake-rough-mix |
Chris Sexton | Orfeas dream | Rock | Wrote a funky little riff and then kept expanding, the bridge has to be the best bridge I have ever written = ) ran out of time to finish the lead guitar work as I would like it. | https://soundcloud.com/chris-sext0n |
Dandy From Home | I Can't Bring | Electronic, Rock | My feelings toward this song swing wildly everytime I hear it and it's a miracle it ever got finished | https://soundcloud.com/dandyfromhome/i-cant-bring |
David Cooper Orton | Carillon Canticle - Variation 2 | Classical, Folk, World, & Country | Intended as a variation based on the folk melodies known as Carol of the Bells, and ultimately entirely nothing like the source material | https://davidcooperorton.bandcamp.com/track/carillon-canticle-variation-2 |
David Thorley | Christmas Songs and Unlit Trains | Pop, Folk, World, & Country | I really thought this was a funny idea, and had no inkling it would come out so unremittingly bleak. I hope all R.E.M-ers had merrier christmases than this one. | https://alonetone.com/dalwynth/tracks/christmas-songs-and-unlit-trains |
Evil Suitcase | Every Day Is Christmas Without You | Rock | I was doing a Christmas song anyway, so I used it for this month's tune. I'm nothing if not lazy. Had some help on the drums and backing vocals from friends. | |
Jai Mohan | comfortable | Jazz, Pop | ||
Jai Mohan | hope | Pop, Jazz | ||
Jai Mohan | museum | Jazz, Classical | it's about two supervillains falling in love | |
Jeff Burchett | Rumble | Electronic | This track is a departure in style for me - very retro, electronic funk, reminiscent of a mod tracker sound, filled up with samples. | https://jeffmakesnoise.bandcamp.com/album/rumble |
Joel Glenn Wixson | Moving On | Jazz | It's just a silly song. | |
Luna Ponderosa | Play Me Out | Folk, World, & Country | With lyric informed by a late night last month when we had to euthanize our ancient cat, I played this simple tune on my second worst guitar. | https://siralfrediv.bandcamp.com/track/play-me-out-2 |
Luna Ponderosa | What's Under The Tree? | Classical | Happy solstice! Here's a little impromptu, with my best wishes for reflection and growth in the coming year. | https://siralfrediv.bandcamp.com/track/whats-under-the-tree |
Magic Bullet | A Soluble Symphony (1st Movement) | Noise | New Years Day, for most folk, follows a week of unbridled excess, the large 'special' celebratory meals, all that rich food, all those sweet extras, and possibly even a drink or two (no, really)! We figured that after all of that, the ONLY thing anybody would really want to hear from us would be the comforting 'plink-plink-fizz' of an indigestion or hangover remedy, gently doing its thing in a glass tumbler full of hope. I recorded Skit (hangovers),he recorded me (indigestion),and we lovingly weaved those recordings into a four movement symphony, the first of which is before you now. No special effects, all au natural, everything you hear was achieved with mixing techniques alone. The Magic Bullet, keeping it real... | https://alonetone.com/magicbullet/tracks/a-soluble-symphony-(in-four-movements) |
Mikey Hogan | Some Call It Christmas | Pop | I wasn’t going to write a Christmas song but Salman talked me into it. I got a lyric idea to sing about the excessive waste of the season and the song grew from there. I'm not perfectly happy with every single lyric but I'm pleased I stuck to "Some call it..." all the way through to the end. | https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan/tracks/some-call-it-christmas |
Rob Parker | Cold Comfort | Rock | Bad edits, sloppy playing, bad singing, bass is mixed too low... So pretty good overall. | https://alonetone.com/robertjames1971/tracks/cold-comfort |
Salman Ahad | Feelings of Fall in Winter | Classical, Electronic | Kinda my Christmas track | |
Savory Flakes | The Cobra's Fang | Pop | That morning after feeling. All hail Tiki! | https://soundcloud.com/user-975931965/the-cobras-fang?si=564d4519f021412086752845aeba8850&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |
Schmex | Defined | Rock, Classical | "If you start something, finish it, no matter the result. You can spend your whole life rewriting the same piece." Nelson Keyes | https://alonetone.com/rosteiner/tracks/defined |
The Wizards of Vomit | Babylonian Numeral System | Noise, Rock | https://thewizardsofvomit.bandcamp.com/track/babylonian-numeral-system | |
Twilight Sleep | Homeostasis | Electronic | ||
Umbrella State Broadcasting | Blind Colours - Signal Lost Beyond the Sun (Xmas Cheer Mix by Umbrella State Broadcasting) | Electronic, Rock | A somewhat Christmassy remix. It's been a while since I've worked with Blind Colours! | |

Jai Mohan | little death | Pop | |||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Umbrella State Broadcasting | May-December | Electronic, Noise | Nice little tune about feeling much older than I really am haha. I've actually been working on it for the past few months, but I certainly worked hard putting the finishing touches on it this November. | ||||||
Wınter | magnetıc lıght | Electronic | An autumnal meditation session | ||||||
Big Rips | Better Skyrim Community Center | Rock | Mountain Dew + Silent Hill + Weezer | ||||||
Daiva Pelėdaitė, Neil Nebula | Daiva Pelėdaitė - Balta Vienatvė (prod. Neil Nebula) | Electronic, Pop | A joint effort with a vocalist from Lithuanian band ''Antaja'' | ||||||
Wınter | transıent reflectıons | Electronic | This track was inspired by traditional Japanese music and zen poetry | ||||||
David Thorley | The Bootle White Stag | Folk, World, & Country, Rock | A sad, surreal happening in the early hours of a Liverpool morning | ||||||
BogStomp | Ghosts of Christmas Past | Rock | Almost every year I record a holiday song. This was an old demo form 2012, originally meant to be an acoustic tune, but I changed up the lyrics and overall feel to be heavier. | ||||||
AMUC | Deep Dive In Backwash | Electronic | Started out as a typical electronic track, but went into strange waters as I added a field recording and got carried away. (My subconscious was apparently upset I didn't do a Halloween track and was determined to intervene.) | ||||||
Diana Bailey | Chalk | Folk, World, & Country, Pop | |||||||
Twilight Sleep | An Elephantine Wish Laid Upon A Dying Star | Electronic | When overwhelming odds, like gravity, collapse into the inevitable. | ||||||
The Wizards of Vomit | Multiverse, Echoes from the | Electronic, Rock | I was experimenting around a bit with several echo machines | ||||||
Schmex | Pontchatrain | Rock | It has nothing to do with the lake in Louisiana. My first crack at tracking and releasing a song with Reaper. I have a LOT to learn. | ||||||
Mikey Hogan | Slow Heat Death | Rock | I guess I was feeling frustrated about COP 26 in Glasgow and our joint failure to act on climate change, despite the visible effects around the world and here in my own city. This is recording is a just sketch that got out of hand really. | ||||||
Bogwash Sally | Evacuate Now | Electronic | I've had to hear this sound for hours and hours on end in my time and now I'm subjecting you all to it too! | ||||||
Griza | Epiphany | Rock, Noise | |||||||
Savory Flakes | After We Were | Pop | removed the self imposed time limit and covered most of the bases, if anyone can stay with the whole thing. Cut cut cut, stripped and saved. | ||||||
Magic Bullet | Who Is Earthshine? | Noise | UnCaged: 33'4'' - it's a piece we've recently recorded for the French label, Camembert Électrique, to be released on a compilation called "Silence" in early December. It was John Cage whose 4'33'' cleverly demonstrated the near impossibility of silence, but our approach was the antithesis of this, creating a work from white, pink and brown noise, effectively masking all other sounds so you can hear nothing but. White noise, in particular, is good for that, a gentle shushing sound to block out the intrusive clatter of the modern world. That's one application. But when tweaked, we discovered, a few changes to the EQ, a little introduced cross-phase et al; well, it becomes a much less pleasant beast. Who is Earthshine? Immerse yourself in the full 35 minutes of this much less pleasant beast and you will know. A little knowledge is indeed a dangerous thing... | ||||||
David Cooper Orton | Gathered all around | Folk, World, & Country | A melancholic mood befitting the on-set of winter | ||||||
Rob Parker | So Far to Go | Rock | Minor sevenths and congas for the win. | ||||||
Luna Ponderosa | Steady on the Yule | Folk, World, & Country | Twas Xmasy in intent, but veered into a drinking song and ended up full pagan. Freestyled the melody, no guide. 5 or 6 things I should've fixed, but it's been a hell of a week. | ||||||
Salman Ahad | Tamanna | Classical, Electronic | I was really inspired lately by Olafur Arnalds' album 're:member' and wanted to try and see if I could conjure my own version of a string-based piece that also incorporates some synth elements, and I'm really happy with how this turned out. "Tamanna" in Urdu means contentment or peace of self, which is kind of what the track started out trying to express but I guess this took a little longer to make so that sense of inner contentment faded away as the track progressed and that's kinda why it ends the way it does. | ||||||
Evil Suitcase | Stay | Rock | A drummer friend sent me some beats, and I looped one and ended up with a sort of nineties style track. | ||||||
Feet Long Mouse | Rusty Spoon Maker | Rock | Is Rusty a spoon maker or does he make spoons rusty or does he make rusty spoons or is he rusty in making spoons? I don't know either | ||||||
The Wizards of Vomit | Space Town Continuum | Rock, Electronic | In a way every town is a space town | ||||||
Chris Sexton | The froggy song! | Electronic | My friend challenged me to write a song with his sons toy zylophone! I ended up recording his beatboxing beat and a few chime sounds at the local playground for good measure. This was my first time sampling sounds so it was a good learning experience. Thanks to my wife for being my percussionist and banging the chime sounds at the very end for me to remix. | ||||||
Chalices | Kind of Girl-Demo | Pop, Folk, World, & Country | Sometimes I want to write songs that are so deep, that my middle school self would wouldn't be able to fathom the intricacy of my adult emotional world if they heard it. And other times my middle school self is tired of my bullshit and possesses my body to write a song for me. | ||||||
Dandy From Home | Sitting Dogs | Pop, Rock | Can't remember why I wrote this song but I think it's about dying alone | ||||||
Elling Lien | geaux | Electronic |
