This year I just tried to enjoy myself. I came up with some completely new tunes but having re-read the RPM rules and learnt that it is permissible to 'complete work you started before February', I decided it would give me an excuse to raid all those unfinished projects with catchy hooks that never quite went anywhere. The result is that 5 of my songs come in at under three and a half minutes, hence my EP is a bit more poppy than usual.
When I finally managed to lay down the rap in 'Comfortable Courting' and build a nest around it. It was after midnight and the metre was so unnatural that I kept making mistakes and having to retake. I knew that if I went to bed I wouldn't be able to make those lyrics fit in the morning so I kept going. I managed to lay the rap down well and as soon as I syncopated the drums around it and heard the way it sounded I knew that this track was gonna work.
Too many short songs do not an album make.
