Oneirogen Codex is a concept album about dreams, and the prospect of increasing and/or controlling them. Ten tracks, mixed and released as two indexes and intended to be listened to as one continuous experience, with less than a second’s pause between Index A and Index B. Play it while asleep or in other dreamlike/altered states for maximum benefit. The ten tracks range from drones and soundscapes to fuzzy, distorted electronic downtempo. Experimental and eclectic, with a focus on mood and aesthetic, the album was made in a semi improvised, semi programmed way (“DAWless”), recorded live to cassette tape before editing within a DAW environment and minimal digital post processing. The full track listing is below, with the split between Index A/B occurring before “Implacable Progress Toward an Ineffable Goal” Through the Wall of Sleep A Psychic Tour of the Martian Ethereal Plane This Rainforest Holds Secrets, but Not from Me An Eerie Interlude This Rainforest Holds Secrets, but Not from Me (reprise) A Small Town in a Strange Place, Far Away That’s No Radio, It’s an Interocitor/A Celebration of Something Stupid Implacable Progress Toward an Ineffable Goal 2:45 a.m., Junction B, Exeter Station Communicate with Supernatural Beings, Now! Best moment was when I took a day off to help a guy with a problem he was having...and ended up getting most of a song out of it almost by accident as I showed him how to make a patch on my modular synthesizer.
Discipline and letting things be good enough are the two keys.
