Andrea Samengo
This is an Instrumental composition. Used a variety of Instruments, Acoustic, Electric, Electronic and Virtual ones. Recorded the whole thing at my home studio in Lima using Cakewalk DAW. This composition reminds me colours and smells, sensations very End of Autumn beginning of Winter like. It feels like something has gone never to come back.

bonehome
I made a single with extended intro and outro tracks all written, produced and performed by myself!

Bertie Koller
The music for this album was created with three keyboards & some effects pedals. I improvised a loop for each first track, then built up from there. Lyrics were written while listening to the tracks. I didn't spend much time thinking, just responding to what had already been done, letting go of any desired outcome. Some slow methodical improvisation.

Michelle Monette
I wrote, recorded, and produced an EP (my first ever!) all by myself, all from my basement studio.

Grant Brammer
A set of songs recorded in a closet in the middle of the night as to not wake the family.

the Bicycle Factory
This record is an a side/b side split consisting of half emo/folk-punk/jazz/noise songs and half instrumental lo-fi beats.

Floppy Jalopy
Inspired by a Free Drum set, Older Not wiser is another Floppy Jalopy. Recorde in my Barn office in the cold evenings of February 2021.

The Stove
I just heard about this challenge about a week ago. I love writing songs, but hate learning computer programs and the tedium of recording, as well as the vulnerability of sharing my work. Trying to get better about the last two things without sacrificing the first thing. It’s just me, a crappy guitar, and a simple voice recorder. It was fun to record whatever weirdness came out, and I hope you enjoy it.
Joel Glenn Wixson
I get my songs in dreams. "This Hard Town" is for all those people who work their whole lives trying to get ahead, but never seem to. I want them to know I notice.
Jon Hoddinott
I spent ten days working on five instrumental piano pieces with an underlying theme of doctors who committed murder. I borrowed a yamaha synth to perform the music, and recorded and mixed it at home. I got the idea from reading a true crime book, "Doctors Who Kill", by Max Haines (Toronto Sun Books, 1993)
Supersonic Transport
I made this EP just for me pretty much, have never even finished one song before so it was a big task! I learned a lot and had fun. I am proud of what I made and I hope other people will enjoy it too!
Orphans
3 of us Orphans wrote and recorded remotely - then sent tracks to Bonehead for mix and master. we made the record for ourselves in this time of separation.
Balloon Marsupials
Made in the time of COVID 19 - We laid the beds then worked on each others tracks. This is the Balloon Marsupials (plague) White Album
Shyster
I made an instrumental track with a spoken word verse. It started from a melancholy riff I came up with while stuck inside during a blizzard. The lyrics are inspired from a dream.
Latin Fish
In ableton live, I had the idea of composing with LFO's by mapping an LFO to a pitch device followed by scale device. After that I mapped various parameters to LFO's so that the overall result is something that is never repeated. The sounds meet each other at random points. The image/soundscape I got in my mind was very clear and so the next day I went on to draw the cover art.. A lake, ducks and Loch Ness.
relative systems + sevenism
We made a project consisting of three tapes: tape i: good morning sunshine contains mostly melodic pieces, although there is some atmospheric and textural content. tape ii: memories i no longer forget, is a nostalgic tape with some melodic tracks as well as drone/textures. tape iii: in the absence of light, is a dark ambient tape but also warm and uplifting. relative systems - who did most of the composing, used this project as way to get through tough times and addiction. Both the musicians have a deep love of making ambient musical projects. We make music for anyone who will listen to it. There is so much relaxation in ambient music, I think everyone should listen to atmospherics sometimes.
Planet Sapphire
This is a lyrically dark album that includes a lot of experimental electronic music mixed with more conventional instruments. All songs were created using Logic Pro X , piano, guitars, and a synthesizer. No animals were harmed in the making of this album (however they didn't always appreciate it).
The Cryptid Club Lounge Band
Live From Bigfoot's Birthday is the recording from a fictional club patronized by crpytid creatures, performed by the in house band on the occasion of Bigfoot's birthday. The band is a trio of Drums, Bass, & Keys, with the odd featured performer or vocals. I wanted to prove to myself I could, and ended up enjoying it a whole lot!
ZARIA
I wanted to do this challenge to prove to myself I have what it takes to bring what's in my mind to life. I love rap music but I feel it has become so saturated with the same messages/lyrics to the point where it reflects very negatively on black people. Being African myself, I wanted to get a bit deeper with the messages coming through my music in an attempt to showcase how multi-dimensional rap can really be.
Rob Hailman
Weird electronic bleep-bloop pop, with lots of synthesizers... including one I built myself.
Former Eraser
Craig Squires and Rick Bailey improvised some epic electronic jams online using Mumble.
Connor Parsons & Hunter Lee
We made an Alternative EP over the course of February, with music by Connor Parsons and vocals by Hunter Lee. We hope you enjoy!
Fingerbreaker
My son wanted me to help him write a song. He wrote the words and structure of the song and I came up with music for it.
Justin Vegh
this is my second foray into what i would characterize as dadfolk. it is a song for my daughter who is 6 months old and was written during paternity during nap times. it took 2 days to write, and another 18 days to perfect. my wife forgives me, i think.
Matthew M. Conroy
Five tracks from experiments I have wanted to try or re-try. Some Csound, some DIY electronics hardware, some Python coding.
Jeff Burchett
Ashes & Equilibrium meanders among related genres, exploring territory in modern and classic goth rock, EBM, synth-pop, alternative rock, and trip-hop, while drawing on musical influences ranging from The Sisters Of Mercy to Covenant to MF DOOM to Animal Collective and beyond. Ashes & Equilibrium is a reflection on the preceding year and growing feelings of doubt amidst the rise of global authoritarianism, rapidly deteriorating environmental health, and the COVID-19 pandemic still claiming many thousands of lives daily. Equal parts catharsis, social commentary, and outright escapism, Ashes & Equilibrium is topically influenced by current events as well as fantasy and fiction. Special thanks to my family, particularly my wife, who's been both patient with and supportive of this project, to Cam for being understanding about a month-long step back from work on his own project, and to Kreestof, who is always willing, and more importantly able, to give productive, constructive feedback, without which, this project wouldn't be nearly as good.
Kausiut
Tried to capture how i've been feeling the past few months, split between some older patches in VCV Rack I revisited and some newer ones from this month
Frank and Jackie Gesek
A CD compilation of patriotic tunes and songs about triumph over adversity. Made it for the challenge, for our own sharing of music
the robinovitches
A mix of electric guitar and ukulele based instrumentals. Weird sounds for weird times.
Sound Symposium
Stations of Light is Sound Symposium's contribution to RPM Challenge 2021. This collaborative record making experience welcomed friends from around the globe. Despite the isolation that so many of us feel this season, we are connected in so many ways – how good to be able to make some music together.
Dan Paquin
I wanted to make a rock record. Rockers and ballads more or less. I made it in my garage using Logic Pro X on Macbook Pro. I played all of the the instruments including the drums. I made the record for me mostly, but I like the idea that other people will enjoy it.
