AMUCPasticheElectronic, SynthMy grandmother used to make 'pastiche' for supper, which was basically all the leftovers thrown into a pan. That describes this track perfectly. I had about a dozen different Jeskola Buzz files that I tried to Frankenstein together into something listenable. I used Adobe Audition and was working in a single WAV file, without any multitrack. (Multitrack is such a pain in the neck. I never liked using it.)https://alonetone.com/amuc/
as alwayshell or high waterIndie, Singer-Songwriterere’s to good friends, slow dives, and finding a way…come hell or high water. we made a few tracks for august, but this one was a stand out. the lyrics hit close to home for the both of us, and “as always,” there is an endless amount of gratitude and deep appreciation for each other as bandmates.https://soundcloud.com/as-always-2/hell-or-high-water
Atomic Super KickAlways Snag Glass WeaselsExperimental, RockJust some math rock. Felt like doing something other than Safest Outbound Sparrows for once.https://atomicsuperkick.bandcamp.com/track/always-snag-glass-weasels
Big RipsTech BrosPop, PunkA rock song about hating work. Extreme overuse of the 2 drum fills I know how to do and no vocal tuning yayhttps://bigrips.bandcamp.com

BoschendahlStereotypeAmbient, ElectronicTake an old song and make it better, as they say!https://alonetone.com/boschendal/playlists/boschendal-rpm-2023
BukupandaSmall Plate #1Hip-HopA remix of myself; messed around in the Endlesss app on some beats and rhymes that were sitting there dormant because I’d not dove into the app for the longest. It’s August 31 and I went for it after remixing everything and deciding “oh snap I might be able to submit something this month!” Like last month, did some quick and dirty muting and drop ins live and screen recording, and boom. Quick, dirty, flawed mix, but another one in the can. 2 month streak woohoohttps://soundcloud.com/bukupanda
Caitlin PiperJust Call Poison ControlSinger-SongwriterNo one asked me to make this song, and yet here we are. I hope it helps someone!https://soundcloud.com/caitlin-piper-90687664
David ThorleyThe Only Goth Left In GranthamIndie, RetroA semi-sequel to an old RPM track (https://alonetone.com/dalwynth/playlists/decommissioned-trams/after-school-theatre-club-uber-alles). Inspired by the name given by someone writing into a radio stationhttps://alonetone.com/dalwynth
Dee_for terraDark, ElectronicIt was a really simple process this time -- once I found a chord progression that matched the mood, I started building up some layers, then resequenced the arrangement to make it more coherenthttps://soundcloud.com/k3nnyl0ginz
DJ GhiaStirring Up GhostsElectronicI created a track to remember the passing of Robbie Robertson. Created with Garageband.https://soundcloud.com/todd-warfield-199541239
Don Von ClaudeSee FaceDance, DarkMade this short dark dance tune over August. Had trouble finding a good fit for a snare sound so in the end.... No Snare! It features some tingly tangly FX that remind me of pots and pans clashing together under water and a kind of sporadic bass line that comes and goes.Hope you enjoy!https://donvonclaude.bandcamp.com/track/see-face

Evil SuitcaseThis TownSynth, PopThere was a Roland JV-2080 on hand this month with the Dance card, so of course I had to use one of the late nineties styley drum loops it comtained, slowed down, natch! Which started sort of a trip hop kind of track, although it drifted off somewhat.
First Born SunIt’s OkIndieLast song for the album! Looking forward to starting on my next project.https://open.spotify.com/artist/22Fv5oEAcKLw2A3D67UZ8b?si=groF9n7oTSS5KF2cKfkJfA
HeadlayOnce Hot, Now ColdPop, PunkThis is a song we wrote about a specific topic called "one hot, one cold" where you always drink water or some non-alcoholic beverage while simultaneously drinking liquor/alcohol etc. The idea is that this keeps you more regulated while drinking and prevents hangovers. The special condition here was that we needed to write the song lyrics using chatGPT. It took us a lot of effort to not get generic lyrics, but we think we did a decent job!https://headlay.bandcamp.com/

KevyspiceTrifleElectronic, SynthAnother last-minute MIDI confection using instruments from Spitfire Audio’s LABS collection and drums from Superior Drummer 3. The overall chord sequences were recommended by YouTuber Venus Theory in a couple of recent YT Shorts.https://alonetone.com/kevyspice

MetamereWater RagaElectronic, TraditionalThe work I did for the drone orchestra this month got me interested in making another drone-centric track. The drone with the water noise effect is a patch I made on my Korg Minilogue xd. I created my own stylophone app last winter using p5.js, and added in a lot of exotic musical scales, which got me interested in Indian music. For this song I used the Raga Sindhura Kafi in C, then switched to the Raga Sarasvati in F, which is a mode of the first, then switched back. I added a pitch bend feature to the app this week and practiced with it a bunch to get a feel for it. I routed the phone's audio through my Dreadbox Typhon to enhance it with some effects.https://soundcloud.com/metamere
Mikey HoganBetter Than EveryonePop, RockSomeone here posted The Beths on the current listening channel this month - I found them really inspiring so I tried to write something in their pop rock stylings.https://alonetone.com/MikeyHogan/tracks/better-than-everyone
Nate MonoxideTAMDark, ElectronicMy modernisation of the poem Tam O' Shanter by Scottish poet Robert Burns. In this version, Tam decides to steal a kid's bicycle to cycle home from the pub (rather than riding a horse),when he has an unexpected encounter...https://soundcloud.com/natemonoxide/tam
phog masheeenBad FaithExperimental, Hip-HopSpawned in a conversation on legal activity, this track grew organically from two words.https://soundcloud.com/mark-a-soden-jr
Salman AhadBreak the PointElectronic, SoundtrackPut something together pretty haphazardly post-midnight right before the deadline! Wanted to capture the feeling of elation winning a match or race, and was inspired by the Netflix series on tennis called Break Point!
Savory FlakesOur Odd LodgerRockwe went about this one in a backwards way, taking something that has simple and simplifying it. then, "flipped the tape" and made some parts backwards. All Real instruments into GB, drums courtesy of Savory Mike Flake, affects courtesy of whatever random button was pressed. P.S. will try to comment live in the chat instead of having a 15 minute delay.https://soundcloud.com/user-975931965?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
SchmexRetreatClassical, RockThere are times when you KNOW something's coming. You see the signs, and against all your good sense and smarts, you head off toward it. In the end, you find yourself stuck, staked, trussed, and waiting for it all to wash over you.https://soundcloud.com/ro-steiner/retreat?si=9d49e751ea904cada32302857a857b75&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
Spice Rack CollectiveThe Giving of LoveFolk, Singer-SongwriterA love song from Kenny to his lovely wife, about 20 years in the making! Kenny wrote and recorded the vocals and most of the instruments on his own, then kindly brought the tracks to the studio to see what magic our cadre of friends and collaborators might add to his creation. Under Kenny’s gentle direction, Dan and Matt punctuated the first half of the song with guitar embellishments, then traded leads throughout the outro. Rather than playing a standard drum part, Kevin opted to try emulating the sound of an orchestral percussion section via MIDI and plugin, drawing on long-ago memories of concert band rehearsals during spring semesters when the marching band moved indoors. This one was a lot of fun to put together!https://alonetone.com/spicerackcollective
The Vague MiraclesOur Lady of ZeitounIndie, SynthFrom wiki:The first apparition of the Virgin Mary at Zeitoun was recorded on the evening of 2 April 1968. The phenomenon was seen by two Muslim bus mechanics, who claimed to witness a woman dressed in white on the roof of Saint Mary's Coptic Church. One thought she was a nun about to attempt suicide by leaping from the roof, and called for police. Intrigued by the mechanics yelling "don't jump!", a crowd gathered at the site. The police attempted to disperse them, saying that the sighting was just a reflection of the light from the street lamps. However, a church custodian suggested the figure was the Virgin Mary, which greatly excited the crowd. The event itself ended after a few minutes.[1]

Thorsten NeschI haven't left for work and I already wanna go homeSinger-Songwriter, IndieThe song started with the lyrics, and they started with the chorus - I feel like the one or other might relate to that feeling. It turned out to be the title song of my September EP in my 1 EP a month series (since Jan. 2022)https://nesch.bandcamp.com/album/i-havent-left-for-work-and-i-already-wanna-go-home
WilsunHomesickSinger-Songwriter, IndieI’ve been displaced from home for more than a month. “Homesick” was written and recorded using only my Martin Backpacker acoustic travel guitar and my cellphone (Pixel 4a) in a lonely hotel room. It is unmixed and presented as-is.https://alonetone.com/wng801/playlists/homesick/homesick
WXOAlphamorphosisAmbient, ExperimentalIt kind of sounds like I made a cinematic game title screen track. Basically I just recorded vocal and synth layers until my ear was satisfied.https://wxokeys.bandcamp.com/
