About

In addition to the ten songs recorded for Ashes & Equilibrium, there were several other tracks that didn't quite make the cut. Here they are. Ashes & Equilibrium meanders among related genres, exploring territory in modern and classic goth rock, EBM, synth-pop, alternative rock, and trip-hop, while drawing on musical influences ranging from The Sisters Of Mercy to Covenant to MF DOOM to Animal Collective and beyond. Ashes & Equilibrium is a reflection on the preceding year and growing feelings of doubt amidst the rise of global authoritarianism, rapidly deteriorating environmental health, and the COVID-19 pandemic still claiming many thousands of lives daily. Equal parts catharsis, social commentary, and outright escapism, Ashes & Equilibrium is topically influenced by current events as well as fantasy and fiction. Special thanks to my family, particularly my wife, who's been both patient with and supportive of this project, to Cam for being understanding about a month-long step back from work on his own project, and to Kreestof, who is always willing, and more importantly able, to give productive, constructive feedback, without which, this project wouldn't be nearly as good.
