Hyperspace Glide is my 19th RPM Challenge submission as a solo artist. Music is not the focus of my life right now, and I've been less than motivated these last couple of years. I was determined to participate, but not really feeling it, and also not wanting to do a half-ass thing just to say I'd done it. On Saturday, Feb 22 I put together an EDM track ("Hyperspace Glide") using Live Loops in Logic Pro, and had a good time doing it. I felt like I'd make something I'd listen to again, and I could justifiable submit it as a single. And then the magic. I listened to the track again a few times on Sunday. By Monday, I felt like making music again! I wanted "Hyperspace Glide" to be a full LP, just like in the good old days. So I put together a concept and worked out 5 more tracks for a total of 35 minutes of music over Monday and Tuesday evenings. Now it's Feb 26th and I'm submitting. "Hyperspace Glide" tells the tale of an intersteller cruise gone wrong. We start out by boarding in Starlight Terminal 17D ("Starlight Terminal 17D"), where we board our starship cruiser and accelerate toward light speed. We break through into hyperspace and enjoy the ambient vibe ("Hyperspace Glide"). But then something goes wrong with the drive system! With a series of alarming noises, we drop out of hyperspace and drift for a bit while the crew checks out the system. ("Fluxed Up"). The cruise company puts down for an unscheduled layover on a blissful alien beach and we party while robots fix the ship. ("Gravity Haven"). In the distance, we can see the robots at work, and wouldn't you know, some of them are partying, too! ("Patch & Play"). Finally, the ship is repaired and we resume our cruise through the cosmos ("Orbit & Out"). It was an experience of a lifetime!
I rekindled my love of music production!
Relax. It will come.
